With over 11 years of experience in emergency medicine, Dr. Ward is passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate care when patients need it most. She is especially drawn to rural medicine, where she can make a meaningful impact by ensuring her community has access to timely, expert care close to home.

Dr. Ward is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and brings a broad range of experience. Prior to joining Teton Valley Health Care, she spent seven years working with a private physician group in Salt Lake City, providing emergency care across multiple Intermountain hospitals. Dr. Ward earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, followed by residency training at the University of Utah. Her training and professional experience have shaped her commitment to delivering excellent care in both high-volume and rural healthcare environments.

She and her family were excited to relocate to Teton Valley to be part of a close-knit community. Dr. Ward values seeing her patients outside the hospitalโ€”around town, on the trails, and in everyday lifeโ€”because it reinforces her connection to the people she serves and the importance of accessible local healthcare.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ward enjoys running, biking, and skiing, and loves spending time outdoors with her family and their dogs. She is grateful to call Teton Valley home and looks forward to caring for the community for years to come.

Teton Valley Health Care continues to explore opportunities for long-term sustainability as expeditiously as possible.

There are varying levels of response we are receiving, with some parties exploring continued conversations. Again, we are still early in this process. As soon as more specifics materialize, we will let you know.

In the meantime, our staff and providers are here to provide the same exceptional healthcare they always have. We remain committed to providing healthcare well into the future for Teton Valley.

The Teton Valley Health Care Foundation is in a position to support Teton Valley Health Care in continuing operations while the organization undertakes a focused, comprehensive exploration of all longโ€‘term sustainability options. More detailed information about the Foundationโ€™s support will be shared shortly.

Our CEO, Leianne Everett, is leading this work with steady focus and full transparency. She is actively engaging with hospitals and health systems, as well as collaborating with local and state elected officials to identify every viable opportunity for the future of healthcare in our Valley. These conversations are still in the early stages, and no decisions have been made. As progress continues and concrete options emerge, we will share those updates with the community.

In an effort to maintain clear and factual information, we continue to work closely with media partners to ensure our community understands where we are today and where weโ€™re headed. If you ever have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. You can contact me, Nancy Osmundson, Chief of Public Relations, directly at nosmundson@tvhcare.org, or Hunter Hill at hhill@tvhcare.org.

Thank you to everyone in Teton Valley who has stepped up to support TVHC in many ways. We continue working hard to stabilize our hospital as we work toward a longโ€‘term, sustainable solution.

Weโ€™ve begun early conversations with several hospitals and health systems. These are exploratory only, and no decisions have been made. Weโ€™ll keep the community informed as this process continues.

Weโ€™re also working closely with the County Commissioners to ensure healthcare remains strong and accessible in our Valley.

While recent weeks have required us to make difficult decisions, I want to share with our community that we remain deeply optimistic about the future of Teton Valley Health Care.
ย
Even as weโ€™ve had to reduce our workforce and close our infusion clinic, we have been actively engaged in meaningful conversations with potential partners who share our commitment to providing exceptional healthcare to the Teton Valley community. These discussions are progressing positively, and we are exploring opportunities that would not only stabilize our operations but position TVHC for sustainable growth.
ย
The resilience of this hospital has always been rooted in the strength of our community, and that foundation remains as solid as ever. We are working diligently to ensure that Teton Valley Health Care continues to serve as a vital healthcare resource for generations to come.
ย
I understand that change can be unsettling, but I ask our community to remain hopeful. The partnerships weโ€™re pursuing reflect a shared vision for a thriving healthcare facility that can expand services and better meet the evolving needs of our region. We are committed to keeping the community informed as these conversations advance.
ย
Teton Valley Health Care has weathered challenges before, and we will emerge from this period stronger and more capable of fulfilling our mission.ย

Sincerely,
Nancy Osmundson

Teton Valley Health Care wishes to address a recent article published by Teton Valley News. While the article contained accurate information, the headline was misleading, prompting the publication to issue corrections.

It is important to clarify that Teton Valley Health Care has not received $189 million in funding. This amount, part of a larger initiative known as the Rural Health Transformation funding, remains at the federal level and is earmarked for rural hospitals and healthcare providers nationwide.

We are actively monitoring the progress of this funding on a daily basis. Once it is approved, it will proceed through the legislative process, reach the states, and ultimately be distributed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Current projections indicate that organizations in the State of Idaho may not see any of this funding until at least October. Furthermore, there is growing concern that urban and suburban areas are likely to receive a significant portion of these resources, which were originally intended to bolster rural healthcare facilities.

At this time, Teton Valley Health Care does not anticipate receiving any substantial portion of the $189 million allocated to Idaho over the next five years.

For any inquiries regarding funding or the status of Teton Valley Health Care, please do not hesitate to contact myself, Nancy Osmundson, Chief Public Relations Officer, at your convenience.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

01/21/2026

Rural healthcare systems across the nation are facing unprecedented challenges. Rising costs and increased demand for services make it harder for small hospitals to remain financially stable.

For our community, a strong local hospital means:
โœ… Faster care during emergencies
โœ… Fewer long and often dangerous trips to distant hospitals
โœ… Continued access to inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services
โœ… A healthier, more resilient community overall.

Your donation today can help protect access to high-quality, compassionate care close to home. As we close out our annual appeal, we hope youโ€™ll consider making an impact today by giving to local, rural health.

At Teton Valley Health Care, weโ€™re proud to have dedicated physicians like Dr. Gretchen Stumhofer on our team, providing compassionate, high-quality emergency care to our community when it matters most.

Dr. Stumhofer is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician whose path to healthcare began at age 18 as an EMT and includes service as a U.S. Forest Service smokejumper. Her passion for helping people during critical moments led her to emergency medicineโ€”a specialty she values for its fast pace, teamwork, and ever-changing challenges.

In this video, Dr. Stumhofer shares what she loves most about living in Teton Valley, what inspired her to pursue emergency medicine, and why Teton Valley Hospital is the place for her to care for patients and call home.
