~Large Winter Storm Friday-Sunday Night~
A well-advertised winter storm is expected to bring significant travel impacts to a large portion of the region later this week. I'm building confidence in the placement and amount of snow, so I plan to share my first winter forecast tomorrow morning. I will do a live video around 7:00 PM this evening, so tune in!
A rather complex but large winter storm will bring a swath of moderate to heavy snowfall totals through the central portion of the region. An initial wave will move in on Friday afternoon and overnight for the Northern Plains and through Iowa. Then, a second wave will quickly organize and phase with the first wave, bringing a few more inches of snow. In the pink area, snow is expected to fall for 18-24 hours, with intense snowfall rates at times; snowfall totals are likely to exceed six inches. Travel conditions are expected to be significantly impacted for the entire day Saturday and Saturday night.
I know this weekend is one of the busiest travel weekends. Many people will rely on this forecast, and I will do my best to continue that trust. Stay tuned!
