Our Age-Friendly Outreach Specialist, Cyndy, recently attended AARP's Scam Jam in Duluth—and it was a powerful day of learning, connection, and community impact.

With nearly 70 people at our table alone, the event brought together older adults, caregivers, and community members from across the region, all eager to learn how to stay safe, supported, and informed about scams, fraud, and identity theft.

Events like this remind us how important it is to build a community where all of us can grow older safely, confidently, and with the support we deserve.

Big news for Duluth Age-Friendly!

We’re excited to introduce you to Georgia Lane, the new Director of Aging Initiatives at Ecolibrium3, who will help lead the Duluth Age-Friendly initiative moving forward.

For nearly 10 years, Georgia has supported communities across the Arrowhead Region in adopting age-friendly and dementia-friendly lenses, offering presentations on ageism, social connection, dementia, and the longevity economy.

She truly believes aging is a gift and is passionate about reframing the way we think, talk, and behave about aging through education, stakeholder engagement, and meaningful community change.

What a great turnout at the Age-Friendly Northeast Regional Exchange in partnership with the Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging earlier this month!

To truly shape a community that values growing older, we know a more inclusive community that creates space for collaboration, strengthens community, and reframes what it means to grow older in Minnesota is essential.

Grateful for everyone who showed up, sparked meaningful conversations, and even proudly wore our tees.

The way we talk about aging shapes how we experience it. That's why a significant part of our work involves rethinking the language we use to discuss aging.

By choosing our words with greater care, we can cultivate conversations that are more empowering, inclusive, and positive at every stage and age of our lives.

There’s no better time to challenge stereotypes and discrimination based on age than Ageism Awareness Day!

Ageism refers to stereotypes (how we think), prejudice (how we feel), and discrimination (how we act) toward others or ourselves based on age.
By collectively reflecting and changing our perceptions on what it means to grow older, we can all help combat ageism together.

It’s official—the St. Louis County MN Public Health board has declared October 9th as Ageism Awareness Day!

We’re proud to see our county recognize both the challenges older adults face and the incredible work happening to make our communities more age-friendly for every generation.

With 30% percent of our population in St. Louis County over the age of 60, it’s more important than ever to build a county where we can all live, work, and age well.

The St. Louis County board has designated Thursday, October 9th, as "Ageism Awareness Day."

Tomorrow is Ageism Awareness Day!

Whether you realize it or not, ageism shows up everywhere and devalues the very process of growing older together.

This year, we’re joining others across Minnesota to and reframe aging altogether.

By challenging stereotypes and embracing positive attitudes toward aging, we can create a stronger, more inclusive, and welcoming Duluth for people of all ages.

Did you know Senior LinkAge Line is now Minnesota Aging Pathways?

While the name has changed, their mission and phone number (1-800-333-2433) remain the same.

That means you can still count on them to connect fellow Minnesotans with free, reliable help for Medicare, caregiving, housing, transportation, and more.
