I just received a notice from AT&T that my cell phone was involved in a data breach back in 2022. Fortunately the hacker wasn’t able to see my text messages or obtain any personal information, but they pulled the phone numbers and length of the calls, as well as the cell towers involved. 🤷‍♀️

I highly discourage patients sending messages containing private health information via social media or text message, as these are not secure. WVU has a very strict policy on HIPAA (for good reason) and I can’t violate that. The office has a patient portal (My Chart) that is secure and there is always a doctor on call after hours. Thank you for helping me keep everyone’s information safe. ❤️

If patients receive letters stating that I am no longer in network, this refers to my existing practice. As an employee of WVU Medicine, I am in network under their credentials and am still seeing all of my previously established patients. Please call the new office if you have any questions!

Today is the last day we will be seeing patients in the Thomas Memorial Medical Pavilion office. Beginning next Thursday, Feb. 1, we will be joining WVU Medicine at Ashton Medical near Kroger on Corridor G. Our new address will be 1097 Fledderjohn Road, Charleston, WV 25314, and the new phone number is (304) 345-3627. Beginning Feb. 1, the new office will begin scheduling appointments. Any previously scheduled appointments will automatically transfer and will be confirmed by the staff at Ashton Medical. If you need to reschedule, please wait until Feb. 1 and they will be happy to take care of you. We will be in the process of training and moving next week, so if you have an urgent medical need, you can still call our current phone number and the answering service will put you in touch with Dr. Brown. If you need routine refills or have general questions, please wait to call Ashton Medical until Feb. 1. Thank you again for allowing us to care for you and we look forward to continuing in the next chapter of our journey together!

We are excited to announce that beginning in February, Dr. Brown will be joining WVU Medicine and relocating to Ashton Medical on Corridor G! Letters will be forthcoming to all of our existing patients', and records will be automatically transferred in order to provide a seamless transition. I'm also thrilled that my amazing staff, Kristen and Tiffany will be joining the Ashton team as well! As we wind down the practice in South Charleston, the office will be closed on Fridays to allow the staff to complete all outstanding tasks. We ask that if you have prescriptions needing to be refilled, outstanding tests or referrals, or need copies of medical records, please contact the office well in advance. We appreciate the trust you have placed in us over the years and look forward to providing the same high quality of care as part of the WVU Medicine team!
