“Within weeks of doing daily Awareness Through Movement® lessons, something unexpected happened. My focus improved. I could stay with conversations longer. I felt more empathy and connection with others. “

The benefits of Feldenkrais are not limited to pain relief and greater ease of movement. It gently eases your nervous system into down-regulation and over time this becomes a familiar baseline, retraining your sense of what normal feels like.

Come join us on Tuesdays at 6 or Fridays at 10.

“I was living with undiagnosed ADHD... I struggled to read books. I struggled to listen without interrupting. I was impulsive and easily distracted.”

For Beverly Atkins, working in a high-speed tech culture meant living in a state of constant urgency. She thought she just needed more discipline. What she actually needed was a way to communicate with her nervous system.

Through the Feldenkrais Method®, Beverly discovered that attention isn’t just a "brain" thing—it’s a whole-body process. By learning to slow down and sense small movements, she didn't just find relief from pain; she rewired her ability to focus and stay present.

If you’ve ever felt like your "always-on" lifestyle is stealing your attention, this story is for you.

I recently had a pretty bad fall ice-skating at Chapman Hill rink. One of the first things I decided as I was recovering was to get better at falling on the ice. I imagined climbing into some kind of giant padded suit and just throwing myself down over and over again figuring I would get better at it eventually. Maybe a more realistic way to go is to break down the movements of falling while wearing skates on a frictionless surface and practice those slowly with attention. This is what we do in ATMs and functional integration sessions.

What do you wanna get better at?

Falling doesn't have to be a "fail."

We often think of falling as a medical event, something that happens to us when things go wrong. But what if falling is actually a movement skill?

In our latest SensAbility article, we’ve gathered a collection of "stumble stories" from our worldwide community. From tennis courts to garden paths, these anecdotes show what happens when the body stops being "stiff with worry" and remembers how to be clever.

Through the Feldenkrais Method®, we don't just "prevent" falls by getting stronger; we improve our "organic intelligence." We learn how to navigate the trip, the slip, or the stumble with more awareness and less impact.

Falling is a part of being human. Learning how to fall (and get back up) is where the confidence is.

Can you "fall" while lying on the floor? 🧐

It sounds funny, but many of us carry so much tension that even rolling from our side to our back triggers a "startle" response. We hold ourselves together so tightly that we lose our natural ability to respond to gravity.

In her recent SensAbility contribution, Feldenkrais Method® Assistant Trainer Lavinia Plonka offers a simple exploration to help you:

✅Identify the "Stuck" Spots: Recognize where fear inhibits your movement.

✅Find Fluidity: Use your legs and head to find a smoother, safer roll.

✅Build Recovery Strategies: Develop kinesthetic intelligence instead of paralyzing tension.

The goal isn't just better balance—it's the confidence to move through the world without being sidelined by the fear of a fall.
