Earlier this week, we hosted The Payton Project & Mighty Moms Podcast for a gift-wrapping event where volunteers from the community showed up to wrap hundreds of gifts for The Payton Project Angel Tree recipients. TPP is doing amazing things for the children of our community!

On Friday, December 5th, The Owen Academy gathered for our annual Christmas party, and this year’s celebration felt especially meaningful.

We chose The Artisan in downtown Durant as our venue. It was a perfect reflection of our community roots and the relationships that have supported us since day one.

Surrounded by warm lights, incredible cuisine, and the beautiful music of Victoria Lemmons, the evening felt like a true pause to breathe, celebrate, and reflect.

One of the most memorable moments of the night came when our owner, Brina Dutton, shared an emotional message with our team. She introduced the word FIERO, which is “the feeling you experience when you accomplish something that once felt impossible”.

Brina spoke about how often we see these moments in our work: the breakthroughs, the growth, the victories that our clients and their families celebrate, and the quiet wins we experience as professionals and human beings.

To carry that message into the new year, Brina presented each employee with a bracelet engraved with the word FIERO, a daily reminder of our purpose and the power of perseverance.

She announced FIERO as our team word for 2026, encouraging us to step into the coming year with gratitude and anticipation for every FIERO moment ahead.

The evening was filled with connection, joy, and heartfelt reflection—an inspiring close to another impactful year and a hopeful beginning to all that awaits in 2026.
