This Journey!
I am honored to provide Mental Health and Substance Abuse Recovery Services with a Christ centered worldview, because it takes Faith and Courage to believe things can and will get better! The basis of my counseling perspective is a spiritual one and is first mentioned in Leviticus 19:18 of the Bible; it tells us to “love thy neighbor as thy self”. This instruction is given seven more times (in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, Romans, Galatians, and James) in the Bible which gives some indication of importance. As a counselor, I am to consider all of my clients as I consider and care for myself. I am to help and not hurt those whom I counsel, as I would not intentionally harm myself. This scripture and premise also implies that as a counselor I must practice good self care so that I can effectively care for those that seek my services. Change also takes courage to act! James 2:14-26 explains that it is not sufficient to just have faith but to also be moved to action! It is my goal to show clients how their faith and actions can help them reach their wellness goals I will assist my clients by utilizing Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Seeking Safety techniques to provide Person Centered services. It is my desire to improve an individual’s Biological, Psychological, Social and Spiritual functioning by partnering with them as they navigate life’s challenges.
