Today we celebrate a very special woman. It is Sharla Mylar’s birthday! Besides being a super amazing human, she was also Adam’s original kidney donor. She was fully committed to donate her kidney when Cedars-Sinai was about to do the surgery in 2019. That surgery was cancelled due to some medical issues on Adam’s end. We will forever be grateful for her kindness and generosity.
Sharla remained a strong supporter and fully committed to donating once we found a transplant center that would be willing to take on Adam’s complicated case.
Sharla was one of the first friends Brenda made when she moved to Rancho Cucamonga in 7th grade. She was a neighbor and fellow Girl Scout. Adam, Sharla and Brenda all went to high school together.
Sharla brought us hope at a time when we felt like we were punched in the gut. We thank God for Sharla. 🙏🏼 You are our hero. Happy Birthday! 🎁🎂🎉

Adam is being discharged today!

Update: Adam has left the ICU and has been stepped down to the transplant recovery floor. His numbers are finally stabilizing.
Ryan had his follow up and has now traveled home back to California. He is still sore and will have restrictions but is healing well.

Adam’s overall comfort has improved ever since yesterday’s surgery. The removal of all that fluid seems to have really helped. Some of his numbers are off but it’s likely a response to yesterday’s events. We hope he continues to feel better today and the rest of the week. They will be increasing his heparin slower this time to avoid bleeding again. We will likely be in the hospital for the rest of this week although he may be downgraded from the surgical ICU if he remains stable. ❤️

Adam is out of surgery and in recovery. They were able to pull about a liter of fluid out so he should start feeling better soon.

Adam was taken to surgery to find the source of a bleed and a possible infection.

Yesterday Adam was moved back to the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) due to a big drop in his blood pressure. It was likely due to the high dose of heparin he has been put on due to his propensity to get blood clots. After temporarily suspending the heparin and getting multiple blood infusions, he stabilized. There are still some bleeders and they are working on finding those.
Please keep Adam in your prayers.

Adam is still in a lot of pain but his labs are fantastic! He is still in the ICU but we hope to be transferred to the transplant recovery floor today.
He is still not up for calls or much texting but feel free to call his cell and leave a voicemail.
Please continue to say a few prayers for Adam and that this pain goes away soon. ❤️
