🎄 We had such a wonderful time celebrating together at our company Christmas party last night. It was the perfect way to wrap up another year of hard work, growth, and teamwork. During this holiday season, and truly all year long, we are incredibly grateful for the amazing men and women who make up our team. We’re hiring a Commercial Service / Start-Up Technician to join our team in Durham, NC! This role handles equipment start-up, commissioning support, factory-assisted start-ups, and 1-year warranty calls. We’re looking for someone experienced, dependable, and skilled in mechanical/HVAC systems who can provide strong technical support in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform equipment start-up and commissioning

Assist with factory start-up procedures

Complete 1-year warranty calls

Accurately complete all start-up documentation

Provide technical support during mechanical equipment installations

Requirements:

5+ years of start-up, service, or controls experience

Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC mechanical systems

WE ARE HIRING IN DURHAM, NC!

Position Title: HVAC Sheet Metal Foreman
Department: Construction
Reports To: Sheet Metal Superintendent

Position Summary
The HVAC Sheet Metal Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the installation of ductwork and sheet metal systems for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) projects. This role ensures that field crews work safely, efficiently, and according to plans, specifications, and code requirements. The Sheet Metal Foreman serves as the key liaison between project management, other trades, and the installation team, ensuring quality and timely completion of all assigned work.

Key Responsibilities
-Supervise, direct, and schedule daily work activities of sheet metal installers and apprentices.
-Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan duct layout and installation.
-Ensure accurate installation of ductwork, fittings, and accessories for supply, return, and exhaust systems.
-Maintain compliance with OSHA safety standards and company policies; lead daily safety meetings and enforce safe work practices.
-Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment to maintain productivity and schedule.
-Inspect duct installation for accuracy, quality, and adherence to mechanical codes and project requirements.
-Work with project managers, superintendents, and general contractors to resolve field issues and sequencing conflicts.
-Train, mentor, and evaluate apprentices and less experienced crew members.
-Complete daily reports, timecards, and jobsite documentation as required.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment, tools, and jobsite resources.

Qualifications
-Minimum 5+ years of sheet metal/HVAC duct installation experience, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role.
-Strong knowledge of HVAC duct fabrication, installation, and mechanical systems.
-Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
-Working knowledge of SMACNA standards and mechanical codes.
-Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
-OSHA 30 certification (preferred) or willingness to obtain.
-Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
-Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in various site conditions.

CMC is seeking a Full-Time experienced HVAC Pipe Foreman to join our team.

Position Title: HVAC Pipe Foreman
Department: Construction
Reports To: Pipe Superintendent

Position Summary:
The HVAC Pipe Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the installation of piping systems for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) projects. This position provides on-site leadership to pipefitters and apprentices, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with specifications, codes, and quality standards. The Foreman will serve as the primary point of contact between field crews, project management, and other trades.

Key Responsibilities:
-Supervise, direct, and coordinate daily activities of pipefitters and apprentices.
-Interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings to plan piping layout and installation.
-Ensure proper installation of HVAC piping systems, including chilled water, hot water, steam, condensate, and refrigerant piping.
-Verify materials, tools, and equipment are available and properly staged for crews.
-Maintain compliance with company safety policies and OSHA standards; lead daily safety meetings and enforce safe work practices.
-Work with project management to establish schedules, track progress, and meet deadlines.

We're excited to partner with LeChase Construction SE Region, a full-service construction management and general contracting firm with deep experience across many industries, on the renovation and addition to UNC's Avery Residence Hall. Originally opened in 1958, Avery is receiving extensive updates that will modernize the building while enhancing accessibility and student life.

Our team's HVAC scope includes new dedicated outdoor air systems, fan coil units, exhaust fans, pumps, radiant heaters, piping, ductwork, rigging, insulation, vibration control, system controls, and more, all designed to ensure comfort, efficiency, and reliability for years to come.

Once complete, Avery Residence Hall will feature renovated student housing with new accessible suites, updated ground-floor spaces for Carolina Housing, and a new addition with an elevator, study rooms, and improved circulation. Site improvements will enhance accessibility and connectivity around the building, including new walkways, a drop-off drive, and updated utilities, landscaping, and storm drainage systems, creating a more functional and welcoming environment for UNC students.

We're also proud to work alongside trusted partners Trane, JMP, Hoffman & Hoffman, Inc., Hoffman Hydronics, ASC Equipment, and Bull City Sheet Metal on this project.
