Gage Gives Back

Gage Gives Back Gage was shaken on November 11th, 2003. He wasn't expected to live but worked hard to beat the odds.

He is now 10 years old and wants to give back to those that helped him make it so far. On November 11, 2003, at the age of two months, Gage was shaken by the hands of someone who loved him. This one small moment of time changed the life of Gage and everyone around him. Now 11 years old, Gage has spent his whole life going to doctor appointments, speech, occupational, physical and behavior therapy. Through all this, Gage and his family were determined to take back that day of tragedy and turn it into something positive, and so Gage Gives Back was founded. Gage Gives Back's mission is to provide outreach, information, education and support to families experiencing the lifetime of challenges of Traumatic Brain Injury.

Sorry I’ve been so busy and haven’t posted! My food drive was a huge success. My mom and I delivered food donations every week, and we were also able to provide $300 in grocery gift cards to help families with their holiday meals.

Thank you to everyone who supported my Anniversary of Injury Food Drive — I couldn’t have done it without you.

Gage has usually been doing the posting but tonight it is mom!

Tonight we were invited to a friend's house for a wonderful Christmas party! I sent a photo of Gage sitting with Santa and this was the loving response from my sister-in-law.... "Aww this literally brought tears to my eyes. Sometimes it’s easy to feel he should be “over the Santa thing and all the other holiday things” then I see a picture like this and realize who Gage is as a person-not by choice, but his innocence melts my heart. He truly still believes and I’m so happy that out of this horrible tragedy he finds so much joy. I hope he never stops believing. Thanks for sharing this."

President Trump, please stop calling people “retarded.”

I have a cognitive disability, and I’ve spent my entire life working to make sure people understand how harmful that word is. It’s degrading, disrespectful, and reinforces the stigma that people with disabilities fight every single day.

As the President of the United States, you hold a position that should model dignity and respect for all Americans — including those of us with intellectual and developmental disabilities. When you use language like this, it sends the message that our lives and experiences don’t matter.

We deserve better from our leaders. And our communities deserve a world where people with disabilities are spoken about with respect — not used as punchlines or insults.

I will continue to advocate, educate, and speak up. Words matter. People matter.

Today I State Special Olympic Bowling. I didn't bowl my best in the first game because I let my nerves get the best of me. I did however make a comeback the second game and placed 4th.

Food Drive Update!
November is always a meaningful month for us, and this year we’re marking the anniversary of my injury by giving back through our Gage Gives Back Food Drive. 💙

The photos show what we’ve already collected and delivered after just the first week — it’s incredible to see the love and support from everyone! We’ve also received generous cash donations that we’ll be using this week to shop for even more food and essentials.

We’ll be collecting throughout the entire month of November, so it’s not too late to donate or help spread the word. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed — your kindness and generosity truly make a difference!

💙 Taking Back November 11th 💙

Every year, as November 11th comes around, I feel a mix of emotions.
It’s the day my life — and my family’s life — changed forever.

When I was just a baby, I suffered a severe injury at the hands of someone who was supposed to love and protect me. For a long time, that day only meant pain and loss. But I’ve learned that looking back doesn’t change what happened — it just keeps me stuck there.

So, I decided to take that day back. ✨

That’s how Gage Gives Back began — turning something tragic into something good. Each year on November 11th, I try to make a difference for others. This year, we’re collecting food for children and people with disabilities, because no one should go hungry. 🥫💛

I still face challenges — seizures, anxiety, migraines, therapies, and medications — but I never ask “why me?” I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I try every day to keep moving forward with gratitude and strength.

I know I’m more than what happened to me — I’m the grace that followed. 💪

If my story can remind even one person that it’s possible to turn pain into purpose, then it’s all worth it.

Join me this November 11th as we give back together! 💙
