Caring for people is more than medical. Hank is 70 years old and couldn't remember his graduation from high school. He was so sad thinking he didn't get to graduate. So, of course, he had to have a graduation ceremony! Providing information on services such as hospice, palliative care and in-home physician services can equip caregivers with options before a crisis arises. Meet Farrah. For the past ten years, she has brought heart, dedication, and joy to everyone around her—patients and coworkers alike. She loves spending meaningful time with her patients, and she especially treasures time with her family and her three grandkids, ages 4, 8, and 13. The best advice she ever received—care for people the way you want to be cared for—guides her every day! A fun fact many coworkers may not know is that she loves to dance, especially line dancing, with the Electric Slide proudly holding the top spot. Outside of work, she loves going on cruises! Her favorite emojis—❤️🤣😭—perfectly captures her big heart and lively personality. Farrah brings the family spirit of Patriot to her community in Lake View, SC.

As Heart Health month comes to a close, please make sure you are caring for your body's most vital organ. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in America. Heart disease causes 1 in 3 deaths each year. Another way to think of this is that someone in the United States dies of heart disease every 34 seconds.

Luckily, you can take steps to support a healthy heart. These include:
• Staying physically active
• Not smoking
• Eating a healthy diet
• Maintaining a healthy weight
Another way to support your heart is to keep other medical conditions (like diabetes) in good control.
