If your agency is struggling with short staffing, not enough funding or resources, staff burnout, or just the plain old routine and chronic exposure to complex forensic casework, there is still no excuse for cruelty and backstabbing.

I know that the NamUs team will continue to build on our successful working relationship and continue to provide you with the same level of support and dedication that you have come to expect.

Hello! For the first time in this country’s history, there is a bill on the floor that will address the lack of support for medicolegal investigation in the US. This is a big deal for our tiny but important section of criminal justice system. Will you please message your representatives and senators in support of this bill? The message I sent is below - feel free to edit it to make your own.

Dear

Please support 5.4159/H.R.8069 - The Strengthening the Medical Examiner & Coroner Act of 2024. I am a medicolegal death investigation professional and, as an often-forgotten but critical component of the criminal justice system, my staff and I need your support to continue to do this specialized, technical, costly, and public job. The majority of medicolegal death investigation systems are managed and funded at the state and county level so your support of this Act will greatly and directly impact your constituents when their family experiences a tragic or unexpected loss.

Please contact me if you need additional Information how this Act will impact the communities you serve.
