Meet the Alice Silbergleit! Dr. Silbergleit is currently serving her 2nd year on the MSHF board as the Chair of the Scholarship Committee.

She cares for patient in the outpatient hospital setting. She is constantly inspired by the individuals she treats and loves that you learn something new every day in the field of speech-language pathology.

When asked what the MSHF board means to her, Dr. Silbergleit stated, ā€œTheĀ goal of theĀ FoundationĀ is to provide scholarships to graduate students in speech-language pathology and audiology. Ā Members of the Foundation understand the high cost ofĀ educationĀ and how hardĀ students work in the field of communication disorders and sciences.Ā  The most meaningful part of being on the Foundation board toĀ meĀ is having the opportunity toĀ relieve some of the financial burden for students.ā€

Let’s thank Dr. Silbergleit for all the hard work accomplished and achievements yet to come during her time with the MSHF board!

An update from 2021 Scholarship Recipient Lauren Denti:

Following graduation, I began working at an ENT practice where I saw mostly adult patients. I enjoyed working with this population but had always wanted to work with pediatric patients. About a year and a half into working at this practice a pediatric audiologist position opened at Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor. I knew I would regret the opportunity if I did not apply and two and a half years later, I am so happy I did. I have been working at Mott as a pediatric audiologist since December 2022. Most recently, I took on a position as an educational audiology consultant and now split my time between working in the schools with students and working in the clinic with patients.

I reviewed my MSHF scholarship application from 2021 where I had noted my aspirations to become more involved in the Michigan Audiology Coalition (MAC) as well as securing my dream job as a pediatric audiologist. Things have become full circle as I am now working as a pediatric audiologist and am very involved with MAC. I am currently on the conference planning committee and a co-chair for Michigan Hears which is a committee designed to bring awareness of hearing loss and other related conditions to the public. I am still very thankful for the scholarship I received from MSHF and look forward to what lies ahead in my career.

As a December 2025 graduate, I accepted a clinical fellowship position at Corewell Health as a Resource Speech-Language Pathologist, focusing on outpatient voice and airway disorders and head and neck cancer. I also am able to work PRN all throughout West Michigan at Corewell Health which will provide me with experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I am beyond thankful for this opportunity in my dream setting and am looking forward to starting my CF in January.
