Strengthen your clinical approach to supporting children with neuromuscular disorders!

Join Kimberly Westhoff, OTR/L, C/NDT for a course exploring how the Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) Practice Model and the ICF framework guide assessment, clinical reasoning, and intervention planning for pediatric clients.

Participants will analyze factors that interfere with movement and postural control, examine system impairments that impact participation in ADLs and play, and practice a variety of NDT handling strategies to support improved postural control and functional independence. The course will also explore therapeutic adjuncts and their effectiveness in improving functional abilities for children with neuromuscular disorders.

To register, log into your account at 🔗 www.ndta.org/login
Navigate to CE Bank → My Certification, then open a Continuing CE Application to add the course and complete your registration.

In the treatment of Club Foot, the foot should look normal without any creases. Can you notice the before and after differences? The picture on the left there is a lateral crease of the foot and in the picture on the right the crease is improved with more length noted in the foot. Kudos to this mom for advocating for full correction of her daughter‘s foot with me after the incomplete correction with her other provider! You don’t have to settle for incomplete Club Foot treatment!

When using the ball in therapy, it’s important to keep the baby’s body centered on top of the ball. This will allow for better weight shifts and better activation of the postural muscle muscles.

I feel like it’s so important to do age appropriate activities during therapy. I think sometimes it might be hard to think of ideas for kids that need more assistance. But since his mom loves TikTok, we made Jack’s first TikTok during therapy. It’s something all his caregivers can do together , and he had a very important job of holding his head up while we help him with the dance moves.

Therapy should be fun, it should be motivating and your child to see your therapist as one of their playmates!
