At the most recent What We Carry, we had fewer sharers than expected—but it gave us something even better: more time, deeper stories, and room to really be together.

And then…it happened.

An unexpected, absolutely legendary “sh*t-off.” (Insert Zoolander walk-off vibes)

Poems. Stories. A full-on p**p song. Back and forth like we were in our own dramatic showdown (you know the kind 👀). The room was losing it—in the best way.

And in the middle of all that laughter was real bravery—someone sharing writing she doesn’t usually let anyone see, and absolutely lighting up the room.

This is why I create these spaces. Real. Weird. vulnerable. Joy-filled. Unforgettable.

“Title IX allowed us to play basketball and not hurt our ovaries.” An actual sentence from an Ember Table gathering that somehow manages to be both hilarious and deeply unhinged. The bar for women has been in hell. Existing in a man’s world is absurd.

At a past Ember Table, someone said the key to accountability is writing your goals on your grandma’s calendar. 😂 We all laughed and then immediately were like wait…why does that actually sound like it would work?!

Some of what surfaced at Fear Table...

Going to the bathroom in the middle of the night and debating whether flushing the toilet would give you away.

Porcelain dolls—and yes, someone had one made in their exact likeness! EEK!

Money, scarcity, and the fear of not having enough.

Many laughs were had. And underneath it all, a reminder that these things stay with us.

Something that came up during Fear Table: Scarification. Have you heard of it? I did not know this was a thing! Check it out. What are your thoughts?

While tattooing has historically been a popular way of permanently marking the skin amongst people groups with lighter skin, scarification is a practice that is prevalent amongst Africans and even Australian Aboriginal groups. The scars are made by cutting or branding the skin, sometimes forming rai...

“I’m learning how to float.” -From a retired woman at an Ember Table gathering, in the middle of one of those the-world-is-a-lot-right-now conversations. Such a visual. Head above water. Still moving.

Tornado watch and all…a lot of people canceled.

But five of us still showed up.

And honestly, it felt like exactly who was meant to be there.

We broke bread. We drank beer.
(Shoutout to Tom, our lovely bartender!💕🍻)

We talked about fear—openly, honestly.

It was cozy. Safe. Real.

A small table…that held something really meaningful.

I’m so excited to be part of this incredible day.

I’ll be at the JONAH Resource Fair for Mental Health Action Day—holding space, connecting with the community, and sharing what Kaleidoscope Soul is all about.

This event is centered on coming together, raising awareness, and supporting one another through conversation, advocacy, and action. I’m honored to be included in that energy.

If you’re in the Eau Claire area, come say hello, take a breath with me, and explore all the amazing resources and people gathered in one space.

Saturday, May 9
11AM–5PM
Owen Park (rain location listed on flyer)

I hope to see you there.
