The Body-Mind Centering® Association (BMCA) is an international non-profit membership organization dedicated to the practice, education, and development of Body-Mind Centering®, a somatic movement education and therapy approach developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen.

BMCA supports the global BMC® community through professional development, continuing education, publications, and events that keep this work alive and evolving.

As part of their annual fundraising appeal, BMCA has received a generous $1,500 gift from an anonymous donor, with a matching challenge to the community. This opportunity doubles the impact of contributions and supports BMCA’s ongoing financial recovery.

A new cycle of our Infant Developmental Movement Education Program is starting in Italy in 2026 through Leben nuova!

This program trains people to recognize early movement patterns and to interact effectively with infants in gentle, enticing ways that will have a positive effect on their growth and development. The goal in movement education with infants is to help set a foundation that supports pathways of ease, strength, agility and adaptability and to help avoid restrictive patterns of movement that inhibit the development of the full potential of the child.

All courses are taught in Italian and English with consecutive translation.

Become an Infant Developmental Movement Educator!
The School for Body-Mind Centering® Infant Developmental Movement Education (IDME) Program is a highly sophisticated and subtle approach to the observation and facilitation of normal movement patterns in infants.

The approach incorporates the child’s curiosity, interest and individuality into the relationship with the educator. It is child centered and relationship centered, and child oriented rather than task oriented.

It trains people to recognize early movement patterns and to interact effectively with infants in gentle, enticing ways that will have a positive effect on their growth and development.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Silvia Mamana, whose vision and commitment were central to the growth of Body-Mind Centering® and somatic practices across Latin America. She directed and brought the School for Body-Mind Centering® Somatic Movement Education and Infant Developmental Movement Education programs to Argentina.

Silvia's warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of working with her. She championed somatic exploration with passion and persistence, helping to weave together a vibrant community that spans many countries. Her presence, guidance, and care will be profoundly missed.

We hold her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched with love and compassion in our thoughts during this time of grief.
