It’s also about tolerance.

Graded exposure means:
• Gradually reintroducing movement
• Slowly increasing load
• Letting the nervous system relearn what’s safe

Avoiding movement completely can make things worse.
Jumping back in too fast usually does too.

The goal isn’t ā€œno pain ever.ā€
The goal is progressively doing more with confidence.

Healing happens when the body is challenged just enough.

Doing both at the same time isn’t wrong—but doubling stress too fast is.

When you increase mileage and add strength training simultaneously:
• Recovery demands jump quickly
• Tendons and joints don’t get a break
• Fatigue masks early warning signs

The result?
You feel strong… until something flares up.

The smarter move:

As the weather improves, motivation spikes.
Your tissues don’t care about motivation.

Running loads your body in a repetitive, high-impact way. Bones, tendons, and cartilage adapt slowly, even if your lungs and legs feel ready to go.

When mileage jumps too fast:
• Tendons get irritated
• Bone stress builds quietly
• Small aches turn into big problems

A gradual increase gives your body time to adapt so you can stay consistent, not sidelined.

It’s common to see words like ā€œdegeneration,ā€ ā€œdisc bulge,ā€ or ā€œarthritisā€ and assume the worst 😨. But here’s the truth: MRI findings don’t always correlate with pain.

Plenty of people have scary-sounding MRIs and no symptoms at all. Others have clean imaging and lots of pain. What matters most is your movement, strength, and function—not just what a scan shows. šŸ’ŖšŸƒā€ā™€ļøšŸ§˜

Our job is to treat you, not your imaging. And most of the time, conservative care works really well—even if your MRI says otherwise. šŸ™Œ
