The MAGA Party is calling this the Schumer shutdown. The Dems are saying after voting on the budget, the Big Beautiful Bill cut funding for Medicaid, snap and other programs and allocated more tax cuts for billionaires taking money and healthcare from those in greatest need.

I believe the President and all of Congress (MAGA controlled) is responsible for not negotiating these issues long before the shutdown date. This is not new.

What do you think and what will bring an end.

Real Life Solutions page is now officially Toppa Broadway. Standing on Toppa Broadway and under my feet is the office/studio where it all happens.

My goal is to identify problems and FOCUS on solutions; To discuss differences, talk to each other rather than yell at each other. I want to focus on ideologies rather than personalities. There IS common ground. I was raised in a family that by example taught me we are all more alike than we are different.

Starting Saturday, the majority of the posts will be video. Set up for Podcast type discussion and will develop that avenue. I'm excited to talk WITH you. Even in whatever differences there may be I want this page to focus on solutions.

"I hope someday you will join us ---------"

Be kind to one another. It's never been more important. 🙂

Real changes coming to Real Life Solutions. Page name change, Podcast type presentations of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, Education, Criminal Justice and for fun, music. The page will also have a name change while continuing to represent the same stories and educational information.

You can't take politics out of any of these topics. But the primary purpose is to come together about issue, not personalities. What can most of us agree we want this Great Nation to be? Finding common ground and discussing differences with in a civil manner. Red, Blue, somewhere in between I think in terms of common goals there are many. Let's talk about them. And get some inspiration along the way. I appreciate your "Following" Real Life Solutions and hope you find the changes more inclusive and entertaining. Look for the name change: "Toppa Broadway."

Thanks,
Bill

Dollar General for a quick two items: Cashier 20 something after getting receipt: "Thanks bruh. Have a good night."
Me: "Bet bruh. You too."
I can and will stay young with the crowd. :)

Tonight in group we talked about how past events shape so much of our beliefs and attitudes. I talked about the Vietnam conflict and the draft. It's not uncommon for me to be the oldest person in the room. Although some knew the history, none could fully grasp the concept of young people being swept from their families, jobs and lives to go fight is a conflict they may or may not agree with.

As someone who wasn't drafted, I had friends that didn't come home. I watched their families grieve. I heard words of praise for those who sacrificed their lives for out country while hearing the continuing question, why?

As irony often plays out, I got home and caught most of one of the most powerful documentaries I've seen. It was many of the actors and actresses that played a role in the series MASH. I don't have a clue what it was like in the jungle of war. But the documentary brought back raw emotions of that time in history. MASH was a comedy yet mixed with the reality of horror.

Watching clips from the show, reminded me of that time in life. It reminded me of how powerful the series was for the times. It also reminded me that as much as that period of time shaped some of my beliefs, there's no way it could help me know what it was to have been there.

As much as I honor all fallen service people that sacrificed their lives in service of our country, I want to express my gratitude and validate the honor for those who were in the jungles of Vietnam. Many didn't choose to go but patriotically went when called. As the conflict ended and our heroes came home, in my opinion they didn't receive the honor and support they should have.

For whatever reason, our heroes of Vietnam were seen differently from other Veterans of War. The documentary of MASH and memories of living that time in history left me with continued gratitude for those who DID go and yet that one question lingers, why, and did we learn from it?

Thank you to ALL who bravely served.

Sometime around late 50's, Satchel Paiged pitched in Garber, Ok exhibition game. My dad took me and explained what a big deal it was but I was too young to internalize how big of deal. I got his autograph but lost it. Anyone else remember this?? Satch would have been early 50's probably but could still throw the baseball.

On my way to Norman for a 2 day workshop. The learning never ends. Don't worry about packing like I use to. Pretty good chance I'll be close to a Dollar General. :)
