Just wanted to say happy start to the school year and that I’m grateful for all of you, though a small % of you will see this due to my posting break. 🤷‍♀️

Cheers to a much better school start than last year. ✨
I still remember driving to meet my girlfriend at the Target parking lot right after the first school drop off and bawling 😭

So many emotions that were hard (and not meant) to contain. 💔
If you were there too, I see you mama. ❤️

Now, this year is already so much better and hope it’s a safe, fun and peaceful one for all of you!

Just bringing some color into your feed with the 🌈 today!

Hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend with your loved ones ♥️🧡💛💚💙💜

Mother’s are the heartbeat in the home 💗 they can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!! 🇲🇽🇺🇸

But mostly 🇺🇸, because 🇲🇽 doesn’t celebrate I believe. 🙃

Leaving you with this incredible salad (that is more delicious than pictures can make it seem).

A friend from Mexico shared this recipe with my family and I was in love. So good. Kids loved it and chowed down.

It’s just 4 plants 🌱

Beets- shredded
Jicama - shredded
Carrots- shredded
Orange- juiced (as dressing)

That’s all.

Perfect side to your Mexican dishes tonight 💚🤍❤️

My little sweet explorer, Mila, used to suffer badly from allergies as a baby and toddler.

And I would suffer watching her each night she was unable to breathe well, wheezing and coughing. Almost out of air. We tried so many things to help her and took her in to get breathing treatments when it got bad.

I wanted to share a little of her story since May is Allergies and Asthma Awareness Month.
And maybe it will help another child as well.

💫Now she has very few allergy attacks a year and if she does they are mild symptoms of just some sneezing and a little mucus.

✏️She never took allergy medicine.

Here’s some things that we know help her:

🌱no dairy. She knows dairy, especially cheese, will produce more mucus and so she usually says “no thank you” if offered. We let her have pizza occasionally for pizza day at school or birthday parties so she doesn’t feel like she’s missing out. But, if she does have sniffles we avoid it.

🌱 local honey and any locally-grown produce. We grow some ourselves 🍅🍓🍊🍋🍇or buy locally to help her body be exposed to allergens in the area.

🌱eliminate household cleaners with toxins. More of this in my stories today. ‘Natural’ does not mean non-toxic. We use for everything possible. Link in bio.

🌱 essential oils: we clean our air by diffusing EOs. Especially Lemon, Lavender and peppermint or tea tree. Very cleansing AND calming. Also make our own fragrance fabric fresheners or bug spray with EOs. Reducing toxins everywhere we can.

🌱 we breath fresh air and eat plants with every meal 🌴🥕🥦

We have noticed such a drop in symptoms since we started implementing these things. She had some eczema her first years that now haven’t been back. I believe these things helped with this drastically and I’m so grateful they have.

Having to hear their little one’s gasp for air is something no parent should have to deal with.💔
If you’re dealing with this, I see you. It will get better 🙏💚

Day 8: Nurture Nature.

Food tastes better when you get your hands dirty and grow and harvest your own + you’re getting all your nutrients while being exposed to local allergens that give your immune system a needed boost.

I can see a big drop in our kids frequency in colds and allergies when we are eating our own home-grown produce. Even just having tomatoes can make a big difference. 🍅

If you can’t grow your own a local farmers market is your the next greatest option. You can find farmers markets in your area at localharvest.org 🌱🍓🍊🥒🥕

Get your kids involved in growing or just picking their fruits and veggies. Harvesting a love for plant food can be the most rewarding thing you can pass down to them. 💚🌱🌎

Day 4: choose to reuse 🌱
We make an effort to reduce our waste and reuse.

It takes just a tiny bit more but it’s one of the most effective ways to cut back on unnecessary waste +the kids get to pick their bags and bottles to take wherever we go.

Everyone wins ☀️🌎💚

Day 2 Earthy Action for Earth Month: travel with reusable bowls and utensils.

Our planet will thank you 💚☀️

Traveled for a week for my last birthday and although we stayed in a place with a stocked kitchenette, I really liked using my for breakfast and snacks and reusable straws on the go.

A little way that can make a huge impact on our home 🌎 🌱

Fun spring break activity 🥚💜💙💗💛🖤🧡
This process takes more time than using regular food coloring but the kids and I had so much fun experimenting with food and their real colors.

We observed how purple cabbage turns the water purple but the egg BLUE!
Same with the black beans. They turned the water black but the egg a fun dark blue tinted charcoal color.

It’s really a science class & a fun Easter activity!

Have some fun and experiment with natural colors made from plants 🌱

Couldn’t love it more 💚🌎
INGREDIENTS:

1 Cup Chopped Purple Cabbage, Chopped Beets, Onion Skins
1 Tablespoon Turmeric
1/2 Cup raw Black Beans
2 Cups Water
1 tsp - 1 Tbsp Vinegar
Boiled White Eggs

Boil water and add each veggie in separately.

You want to get colored water from each food. The longer you boil the richer the color.

You can strain the water or leave veggies in if you want a more natural/rustic look on eggs.

Let water cool and pour in mason jar.
Add vinegar and mix. Add boiled eggs. Cover with lid and let sit 30mins to 6hrs. Depending on preferred richness in color.

**Turmeric & Black Beans: It worked best for me to put beans in a mason jar and pour in boiling water into the jar and let cool before adding vinegar and eggs. Same with Turmeric!

** Onions: I pictured an egg I let sit in the water for 30mins (light orange) and one that sit overnight (dark orange). Every egg will be a different shade 😍

Vinegar:

1 teaspoon for onions, turmeric, and beans.
1 Tablespoon for beets & purple cabbage

Happy Spring Break! 🌸🌼

Hubby’s first food request after living on a boat for many months (aside from fresh fruits and veggies) was my banana bread 😄

So, Mila and I got to work while Caleb and daddy went to check on the airplane and I was too slow to get a pic before they got back and we dug in 😆

This is a real treat. Not my Healthier Banana Bread recipe but yes substituted some ingredients from conventional recipes for cleaner ones we use regularly at home. Delish and better for you. Win win.

You will enjoy! 😋

Banana Bread:

1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour (or 1-to-1 GF Flour)

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp freshly ground nutmeg

1/2 tsp salt

3/4 cup monkfruit sweetener (sugar)

2 eggs

1/2 cup melted coconut oil

3 1/2 bananas, very ripe, mashed

2 Tbsp DF plain yogurt (or greek yogurt)

1 tsp vanilla extract

2/3 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped

Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, & salt. Separate bowl, beat together monk fruit sweetener and eggs with whisk until light and fluffy ~10 mins. Add coconut oil. Add mashed bananas, yogurt and vanilla. Fold in dry ingredients and nuts.
Bake in greased loaf pan. 350F for 45-60 mins.

Get a pic before it’s too late! If that’s your thing 😜
