We celebrated Adina Henderson, FNP, for her courageous efforts to continue CPR on a person who collapsed in an airport in another state, while she was traveling with her family. She had been re-trained two days prior at Oregon CPR and remembered her instructors voice in her head to “take the extra second, look down at the pads before placing them”.

Our HEARTSafe Community efforts extend across state lines to other communities in need. Thank you, Adina! ❤️

🌟 People Saving People 2025 Award Nominee Spotlight 🌟

HEARTsafe Eugene Springfield shared an unforgettable story of survival, and the “mystery” responder who helped make it possible.

When George Koskela suffered sudden cardiac arrest, a bystander stepped in and began delivering high-quality, life-saving CPR almost immediately, well before paramedics arrived. The rescuer seemed to appear out of nowhere, giving George the critical chance he needed to survive.

❤️ The PulsePoint Connection
There was a strong suspicion that the responder may have been alerted through PulsePoint Foundation, the app that notifies nearby volunteers when CPR is needed. Later, George and his wife learned the identity of the lifesaver: Cyndy Meno, a CPR instructor.

Cyndy had received a PulsePoint CPR-needed alert less than a block away, and responded without hesitation.

📚 Gratitude in the Classroom
Not long after, George and his wife surprised Cyndy in her classroom to personally thank her. Her quick action and willingness to help a stranger saved George’s life, just one day before Valentine’s Day.

Stories like this remind us that everyday people can make an extraordinary difference.💙
