What Doctor Treats Irregular Periods?

While various doctors can provide treatment for irregular periods, the type of doctor who specializes in treating women’s health issues like irregular periods is an obstetrician-gynecologist (OBGYN). In addition to treating irregular periods, OBGYNs also specialize in prenatal care, cesarean and vaginal deliveries, pap smears, fertility treatments, urinary issues, breast health, and more. After graduating from medical school, OBGYNs complete four years in an obstetrician-gynecology residency program. Once the residency training program is complete, OBGYNs are then eligible to take a board certification exam with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG).
