Hi I'm Jovie 👋🏻Here's my story ⬇️
If you're new here, this is how the last 5 years of my life happened!
I started learning about herbalism in 2011 because, honestly, I didn't have access to healthcare.
I was blown away when I saw that herbs actually worked for real life situations, so went back to college ( I already had a degree in biology) to study herbalism, then opened my first online apothecary selling body care products that I LOVED making.
Unfortunately, I started buying into all the wellness rhetoric that demonized anything that wasn't "all natural", and saw first hand the slippery slope into conspiracy theories and the right pipeline.
I developed an eating disorder (orthorexia) and became obsessed with achieving perfection when it came to my diet, exercise, and lifestyle. It got so bad that I ended up needing emergency abdominal surgery, which was my biggest fear at the time.
After that, I became so put off by the whole wellness industry, that I quit the apothecary entirely for five years and focused on just growing the plants and getting to know them for myself (while bartending to pay the bills).
In 2020, even though it terrified me, I decided to get vaccinated bc it felt like the right thing to do, and the rest is history.
I've been able to achieve the biggest dream of my life, and I still struggle with depression and obsessive compulsive disorder. I go back and forth between being in complete disbelief that I get to live my dream life... and wanting to sell everything and move into a simple townhouse that isn't so much work or so isolated.
I'm trying to learn to rebuild community, because even though I show that you don't HAVE to have a partner to do what I do, I don't believe anyone should do any of this alone.
This year I want to finally start hosting events out here, because it's way to incredible out here on the property to just keep it all to my self.
Anyway, that's just a little of my story. If you've read this far, I'd love to hear what brought you to find me, if my story resonates with you, and what you'd like to see more of in my posts this next year!
Tell me in the comments! ⬇️⬇️⬇️
