Meet Joseph: From years in the car and real estate industries to life on the road in a camper van and travels across Europe, Joseph’s path has been anything but ordinary. Along the way, food became both a craft and a calling—leading him to restaurant work, catering, and eventually his own wholesale bakery, Pretzel Joe’s. Today, he brings that hard-earned experience, curiosity, and care into our kitchen and community.

Back in November, when news spread about a pause in SNAP benefits a few weeks before Thanksgiving, many folks worried. While the pause was temporary, the reality of food insecurity wasn't.

We talk a LOT about the importance of community and a supportive network, but residents at The Abbey embody those words every day. Residents sprung into action to do what they could to help local families and neighbors.

Not only did residents start a donation drive for Food for Lane County they also connected with OCCU - Oregon Community Credit Union to match funds they raised through the OCCU Feeding Families Fund!

Michele, The Abbey CEO, said it best, "I genuinely have the best residents!!!"

Connecting with local businesses, organizations and resources is something we genuinely enjoy. It also ensures that residents at The Abbey can stay informed and proactive with their plans, decisions and available options when it comes to their future. Aging is a privilege, and one we believe should be embraced and enjoyed to the fullest.

We can't say that Abbey residents were the sole inspiration for the term "keenager", but we're pretty confident you'd find pictures of us in *at least* a handful of examples and references.

Case in point: 15 or so of said Abbey keenagers joyfully partaking in the annual EUGENE BRiGHT Parade! Draping lights on walkers and/or around our necks, and reveling in the magic of this lovely Eugene annual event!
