I recreated an old photo yesterday. Switched my legs and swimsuit style, but apparently the body remembers. I truly love, and am grateful for this vessel I’m in.

I’m going to share my favorite poem with you. It feels perfect for welcoming spring and acknowledging this past year.

I suggest reading it once, and then a second time out loud, a third time to someone you love.

I love you, I hope you enjoy it.

Instructions on Not Giving Up
Ada Limón

More than the fuchsia funnels breaking out
of the crabapple tree, more than the neighbor’s
almost obscene display of cherry limbs shoving
their cotton candy-colored blossoms to the slate
sky of Spring rains, it’s the greening of the trees
that really gets to me. When all the shock of white
and taffy, the world’s baubles and trinkets, leave
the pavement strewn with the confetti of aftermath,
the leaves come. Patient, plodding, a green skin
growing over whatever winter did to us, a return
to the strange idea of continuous living despite
the mess of us, the hurt, the empty. Fine then,
I’ll take it, the tree seems to say, a new slick leaf
unfurling like a fist to an open palm, I’ll take it all.

Overnight power waffles for breakfast! I created this recipe a few years ago and it’s still a hit. Works great as a pancake recipe as well. ❤️

I figure it’s time for an introduction as I’ve seen some new followers popping up! I am a mama to three, even though only two kiddos are with me on a daily basis. My first babe was stillborn at 33wks, and wow did that experience change the course of my life. If you’re interested, you’ll find both a written piece called, “When the Lilacs Bloom” and a spoken word piece called “The Power of Saying Yes” both available in my bio. They are a great resource if you know people who have experienced loss, or are experiencing infertility. In my humble opinion. 🙏🏼❤️

I share a little bit of everything on this page. My grief and vulnerabilities, my celebrations, an occasional poem, my commitment to social justice, love and soup, and my deep love of connection through family and community, found here online and IRL. I aim to be soft yet strong, fearless and forgiving. The ability to reframe a situation is one of my superpowers.

I applied for social work school last year and did not get in. It crushed me in the moment, but I’m trying again this year! In fact, this picture is me, working on essays on top of Spencer’s Butte! It was a pandemic style date with my husband, . The things we do now. ❤️🌲

Thanks for being here and I’d love to know something about you if you’re feeling inspired. Love you. ❤️

Last full moon of 2020. This could be a time to light a candle, sit down with a journal and a cup of tea. Reflect, make wishes or intentions, express some gratitude, and harness the celestial energy. It’s there if you want it to be. 🌕💫

Perhaps you could choose a word that represents something you’d like to let go, and another that represents something you’d like to welcome in this coming year. Some loves and I shared this practice last year and it turned out to be sweet and helpful. I let go of “expectations,” and welcomed in “freedom.” I’m not sure what my words will be this year but I’ve got some ideas ....❤️

Loving you on this full moon night, wherever you are, whatever you’re going through. Let’s promise to do our part this new year, (and always) ... advocating for the health of the earth, advocating for equality and justice. ❤️
