Yes! The green clawed beast.
“All I know is I will never go swimming in the river again.” - Mrs. Darwin Johnson
A creature known as the Green Clawed Beast is said to reside in the Ohio River. The incident took place on August 14th, 1955, in Evansville, Indiana. Mrs. Johnson had been swimming in the water when the terrifying event occurred.
She claimed to have been grasped around the knee by a hairy, clawed hand. On the shore, her friend watched in terror as Mrs. Johnson thrashed around in the water, screaming. She struggled desperately to escape the creature’s grasp. She lunged for an inner tube to get away from the creature and eventually did make it back to shore. Mrs. Johnson had multiple injuries to her leg which began to sting and swell. Some sources state she had a strange green stain on her skin in the shape of a palm that was unable to be removed for several days after the incident.
Later on, she said that she was thankful it had been her in the water and not her 13 year old son. The creature that had attacked her had been so powerful and terrifying, she said that she worried her son wouldn’t have gotten away. She told her story publicly only to try and keep others from experiencing the same thing.
