I passed my exam! I’m now a Certified Animal-Assisted Intervention Specialist (C-AAIS) with
While Merlot is still in training, office visits will be very spaced out so that he and I can learn to be in the room together, while understanding his day to day needs without taking away from anyone coming in to their therapy session!

Wanted to bring this back and five it a permanent spot on the feed. While I don’t do this perfectly, it’s a practice I’m trying to build. I know it can feel hard to take them in at times but they exist. Whether it’s that moment you chose to reach for a fidget because it would bring you comfort or being able to enjoy the smell of the earth mixed with the rain, it’s all worth something.

I was looking for a place for my younger parts to go so I could tend to my anger. I wanted them to feel unburdened and free of responsibility to care take anyone else while knowing they anger wasn’t toward them, but rather what happened. Growing up I learned (from many different experiences) that not only was it important, but it was necessary to appease (people please). I’ve noticed this response activate more recently.

As I was struggling to find someone for them to lean on, I saw these deer ahead of me. The spiritual meaning of deer include gentle strength..this one stuck with me. Gentle strength. What we need in order to move into our true or soul self and out of self abandonment.

We come into the world as our most authentic selves. Then we adapt and modify ourselves in the name of being safe, welcomed, loved. It can be easy to lose sight of ourselves and who we are when we’ve experienced trauma, especially with our caregivers or attachment figures over the course of our developing brains.

It can be such a beautiful and grief filled experience to come back home to your truest you🤍 and although that journey may be difficult, I promise it’s worth it.
