Farmers Market at the Hospital this Saturday (October 18th) from 9am to 1pm. Saturday's market features locally-grown Squash, Collards, Kale, Green Tomatoes, Jalapeno Peppers, Mustard Greens, Turnip Greens and Watermelon! You can also receive a $5 market coupon by filling out a survey.

As part of our Food is Medicine program at the Allendale County Hospital, today's market features a variety of local beans (shelled butter beans, speckled butter beans, crowder, white acre and pinkeye peas), locally-grown Squash, Collards, Kale, Okra, Sweet Potatoes, Zucchini, assorted Micro Green varieties, SC-Grown Apples (Jonagold, Cameo), and Watermelon! You can also receive a $5 market coupon for filling our a survey.

Through MyGoodness in Health and Food is Medicine, we're now in our third month hosting a farmers market on campus of the Allendale County Hospital and this month begins our second culinary medicine series led by Chef Deron Day and PCRM Food for Life. Enjoy these highlights as you journey with us in loving through food here at home in Allendale County, South Carolina. Tremendous thanks to ALL who contribute to this program every week so that it is meaningful, loving, present and good for all in our local community.

What you eat can make a real difference in blood sugar control. According to Woman’s World, Dr. Hana Kahleova from the Physicians Committee notes that whole foods like beans and oats help slow glucose absorption and support balanced blood sugar levels.
