Foster Kirkland

James “Foster” Kirkland, age 72, of Daphne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama, with his wife and daughter by his side.

Born July 1, 1953, in Dothan, Alabama, Foster was raised in Webb, Alabama and graduated from Ashford High School in 1971. From 1973 to 1977, he proudly served in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5) while stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas, with the 7th Bomb Wing of the Strategic Air Command. He carried pride in his service throughout his life.

Following his military service, Foster attended Auburn University, where he graduated with a remarkable 4.0 GPA—an accomplishment that reflected his discipline, determination, and love of learning. He later built a career as a buyer in the automotive and aviation industries, work that eventually led him to make his home in Daphne, Alabama.

Foster is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Linda Sachsenheimer Kirkland; his daughter, Kristine April Coburn and her husband, Ryan; and his cherished grandchildren, Declan Coburn, Lillian Coburn, Madison Gilliam, Caiden Gatto, and Nicolas Rosandich, who lovingly knew him as “Papa.” He is also survived by his sister, Carol Kirkland Wilisch and her husband, Alex; his sister-in-law, Sandra Kirkland; his nephew, Scott Drinkwater and his wife, Shannon; his niece, Jessica Kirkland; his great-nieces and nephews, Taylor Kirkland, Cody Kirkland, and John Kirkland; and his in-laws, Bobby and Cheryl Sachsenheimer and Paul Sachsenheimer, as well as several other extended family members and friends who will remember him for his kindness, humor, and steady character.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kilby Kirkland and Dannie Mozelle (Ryals) Kirkland, and his siblings, Kilby “Kirk” Kirkland and Wanda Delores Kirkland.

Foster was a devoted husband and father whose love and presence shaped the lives of everyone he cared for. Patient, quick-witted, and full of playful humor, he had a way of quietly showing up for the people he loved—always ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer guidance. He surrounded himself with family and loved them wholeheartedly, pouring himself fully into their lives and leaving a lasting mark on each of them.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: reading, learning, and spending time with his family and his pets, Darla and Piper. His faith was a central part of his life, guiding his thoughts and actions, and he devoted much of his time to studying and reflecting on scripture.

Foster loved sports, with Braves baseball holding a special place in his heart. Many afternoons and evenings were spent watching the Braves play—often dozing off mid-game, yet somehow always waking up knowing the score. He also cheered passionately for Auburn football, sharing in the excitement of the Tigers’ victories with pride while he waited for spring training to return.

A visitation will be held Monday, March 16, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne, Alabama. Family and friends will then gather at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama, for a 2:00 p.m. committal, where military honors will be rendered in recognition of his service to our country.

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms… I am going there to prepare a place for you. — John 14:1–4

Foster will be remembered for his steady faith, the quiet strength of his character, his humor, and the loving way he cared for those around him. Though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord he trusted throughout his life.

James Pascal Nelson

James Pascal Nelson, a man of strength and unmistakable spirit, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on March 1, 2026, just days after celebrating his 83rd birthday on February 25. He leaves behind a legacy of faithful service, competitive excellence, deep devotion, and a wholehearted love for life that remains etched in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born and raised in Fairhope, Alabama, James graduated from Fairhope High School in 1961 before answering the call to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Military Police Officer. His time in the Marines shaped the discipline, courage, and integrity that would define the rest of his life.

Following his military service, James dedicated 25 years to the Los Angeles Police Department. As a Watch Commander and Internal Affairs Investigator, he served with steadfast integrity and a commitment to excellence. A gifted marksman, he led the LAPD pistol team to national prominence and was recognized as one of the top competitive shooters in the world. His passion for shooting sports extended well beyond his career, earning him numerous trophies and lifelong friendships.

James’ competitive drive did not stop there. A devoted outdoorsman, he loved hunting and embraced God’s creation with enthusiasm. He was also an accomplished bodybuilder, continuing to compete and win well into his late seventies, a remarkable testament to his discipline and commitment to health and strength.

After retiring from the LAPD, James continued his public service with the National Rifle Association for more than 20 years. As California Field Representative and later Western Regional Field Service Director, he led with the same energy, leadership, and conviction that marked every chapter of his career.

Outside of his professional life, James lived boldly and joyfully. He loved the open road, riding his Harley-Davidson on cross-country trips alongside his brother John. He took pride in his Corvette and the thrill of a powerful engine. A talented photographer, he captured the beauty of the world around him (see background photo), earning awards for his work. His love for God’s creation was matched only by his love for serving others. He faithfully served in his local church and participated in mission trips across Africa and the Dominican Republic.

James had a deep appreciation and love for the "Wild Wild West." Deep in his heart, he was a modern-day cowboy. So much so, he insisted on naming his boys in such a way to honor this call of the west. His oldest, Mark "Shane" (in honor of one his favorite western movies) and "Matt" "Wayne" (In honor of his two favorite cowboys Dillon and John).

James had a tender heart for animals, especially his beloved Brittany Spaniel, Liberty. Over the years, he adored several Boston Terriers and delighted in spoiling them, daily with Burker King chicken nuggets.

Above all, James was a man of deep faith who loved the Lord Jesus Christ. His faith anchored his life and guided his steps. He was known for his warm smile, natural charm, and the way he could light up a room. He lived fully, loved deeply, and inspired those around him to pursue excellence with integrity.

James was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He cherished his sons, Mark (Tracy) Nelson and Matt (Millie) Nelson, and found great joy in time spent with his grandchildren, Kelly (Blaine) Russell, Reaves (Madison) Nelson, Will Nelson, and Edward Nelson, as well as his great-grandson, John Reaves Nelson. He shared a special and enduring bond with his sisters, Elizabeth Bishop and June Long, and his brother, John (Sandy) Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laverne and Ethell Nelson; his sister, Becky; his brothers-in-law, Buck Bishop and Benny Long; and his sister-in-law, Vicki Nelson, who now welcome him home.

As we remember James Pascal Nelson, we celebrate a life lived with courage, conviction, strength, and faith. His legacy endures in the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the unwavering example he set.

You are invited to join his family on Friday, March 6th, at First Baptist Fairhope to celebrate his life. James' family will receive friends at 3:00 pm followed by a Celebration of his remarkable life at 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a gift to the First Baptist Fairhope Mission Fund to support ongoing global efforts like James felt called to support and be a part of. Jerry E Wilson

Jerry E. Wilson, born on September 2, 1941, in Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama. He was a beloved member of his community and is fondly remembered as a dedicated businessman and family man.

For many years, Jerry owned and operated Jerry's Sporting Goods, a venture he began in 1979. His commitment to providing quality goods and service made him a respected figure among his customers. A man of integrity and steadfastness, he poured his heart into his work and inspired those around him with his entrepreneurial spirit.

Jerry was not only devoted to his career but also to his faith and community. He was a valued member of the First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort, where he participated in the life of the church and built lasting friendships.

Jerry loved talking with every customer who walked through the door. Conversations often turned to proud stories about his grandchildren — from the baseball fields to the football fields and even the Million Dollar Band. He never shied away from sharing opinions on which coach should be fired, which coach was great, and anything else happening in the sports world. One could easily imagine him now catching up with old friends, talking about how the New York Yankees are going to look this year and debating whether Kalen DeBoer will make it at University of Alabama.

In addition to his professional and community accomplishments, Jerry served his country as a member of the National Guard. This service reflected his dedication to his values and to the people he cared about.

Jerry met the love of his life, Ann, when she was 15, and he was 17. They built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and commitment that spanned a lifetime. On February 16, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary — a testament to their enduring love and devotion.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Wilson; his children, Debbie Gates and Mickey (Stephanie) Wilson; and his five cherished grandchildren: Brandon Gates, Brittney (Josh) Cowart, Chandler (Peyton) Wilson, Brady (Anna Brooke) Wilson, and Avery Wilson (Makayla Bledsoe). His legacy continues with his two great-grandchildren, Noah Byall Gates and Christopher Wilson.

Jerry is also survived by his sister, Helen Seale, and brother, Steve Wilson, who will carry forward his memory with love and fondness.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Wilson, and brother, Harry Wilson, whose spirits remain a part of the familial bond shared by Jerry's surviving family.

Funeral services will be held in the multipurpose room at the Spanish Fort Community Center on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 11:30am until 1:00 pm.

Interment will follow in Jubilee Memorial Gardens.

In Lieu of flowers the family request donations in Jerry's name can be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or Spanish Fort Sports Association.

Judy Lane Mravle

Judy Lane Mravle, lovingly known as “Glammy” to her grandchildren, passed away on February 13, 2026, in Spanish Fort, Alabama, at the age of 73. Born on May 1, 1952, in Midland, Texas, Judy lived a vibrant, people-filled life that stretched far beyond any one place.

Judy was the daughter of Joyce Owens and Alton Hall. She is survived by her sister, Sharon Porter, and her brother, Allen Hall.

She met the love of her life, Anthony T. Mravle, at the University of Anchorage in Alaska. Together they built a family rooted in love, energy, and connection. She is survived by her husband of over 54 years, Anthony, and their children: Tony and Jen Mravle, Mike and Amy Mravle, Marie and Joshua Bailey, and Tom and Erin Mravle.

Judy was the proud and devoted grandmother of thirteen grandchildren: Mia (20), Adison (20), Anthony (19), Andrew (18), Alayna (17), Molly (14), Luke (13), Chris (11), Blakely (10), Ben (9), Sofia (8), Nathan (8), and Owen (5). Judy was their biggest cheerleader, the first to celebrate a milestone, the loudest in admiration, and the most enthusiastic believer in their potential. They loved her larger-than-life energy and always knew they had her in their corner.

After graduating from the University of Alaska with a degree in music performance, Judy quickly realized that her gifts were best expressed in connecting, mentoring, and championing others. A believer in entrepreneurship and self-described “Passionate Champion of the Human Spirit,” she launched numerous ventures and devoted much of her adult life to coaching and consulting. She was never too busy to take a call from someone who needed encouragement or clarity. She thrived in community, drew energy from people, and truly knew no strangers.

Fun, generous, and expressive, Judy was known for cooking far more food than necessary, filling rooms with conversation, singing along to music, crocheting, playing the piano, and enjoying margaritas with friends. She carried on her husband’s Slovenian heritage by making potica and sausage with sauerkraut, feeding both stomachs and souls. She loved God deeply, loved sparkling things, and loved being “in the mix” of life.

Judy believed life was meant to be lived boldly, to act before everything is figured out, to love generously, to communicate openly, and to never be bored or inconsequential. She instilled creativity, courage, and connection in her children and grandchildren. If she hoped to be remembered in any particular way, it would be as a positive force who brought energy, hope, and light into the world.

A family gathering will be held privately to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to causes Judy cared about, including:
