I’m thrilled to finally share something that has been years in the making (since 2019) — my time-lapse, time-slip novel:
Just Beyond the Morning Haze.
This story began in the most unexpected way. In 2019, after a series of strange experiences at the gym (yes, the gym!), I found myself thinking, “Hmm… this could be the beginning of a good book.” What happened next can only be described as a full “download” of a narrative I couldn’t ignore.
For the next year, it was as if someone sat over my right shoulder guiding every chapter. The narrative simply wouldn’t let go of me until I wrote it. While the story has remained as written, over the years there has been many re-reads and edits, while tending to other life duties.
Some of the emotional threads of the book were inspired by an earlier loss in my life. Through the editing process of this novel, I found myself evolving with the main character, Iris, as she explored the deeper questions that arise when life shifts in ways we don’t expect.
Many of you know I lost my husband unexpectedly in 2021 — my biggest cheerleader for this book. What I didn’t realize then was how much writing this story would prepare me for what was to come. Just as it was for Iris, the years of editing (after my husband passed) became a journey not just through grief, but through identity, faith, and the strange places the mind goes when reality no longer matches what we’ve been taught to believe.
The book also weaves in the mystical and historic soul of Mobile and the Old South — the houses that whisper, the lore that lingers, and the old‑world magic that seems to live in the Gulf Coast air. Those elements became part of the heartbeat of the story.
After receiving publishing interest that required changing the story to fit unrelated criteria, I chose to self‑publish so it could remain exactly as it came to me — unfiltered, unforced, and true to the voice that whispered it into existence.
The book is based on a true story… but whether it’s fiction or something more, I’ll let you decide.
Thank you for celebrating this moment with me. Your love and support have carried me through more chapters of life than you know.
