At the AAGL meeting in Vancouver, I will be sharing my experience with a new robot which has many advantages compared to the other robotic systems on the market. The robot to be unveiled is by Memic Innovative Surgery (www.memicmed.com). A few things that I will discuss during my presentation are:
· The system is very compact, with only a surgeon control console taking up space. The robotic instrument control mechanism is mounted to the OR table
· The most exciting thing is that the robotic instruments are introduced through a portal in the Pouch of Douglas. This will allow surgeons to heed the advice of ACOG and execute laparoscopic robot-assisted vaginal hysterectomy whenever feasible.
If you are going to the AAGL this year, I will be sharing my experience at the industry sponsored symposium on November 11th from 6-8pm. If you are unable to attend my talk, the robotic system is also shown at booth ( #132) on the exhibit floor by invitation only.
