I have a student who shared with me that she's doing family therapy and has read all the articles, watched the videos, and learned it all about therapy, but when she started actually doing therapy, all she could say was βthis is not the same as the articles, this is hard.β Yet, this is where the real growth happens. Therapy and diagnostics are nuanced, requiring dedication and perseverance. It's not just about reading symptoms and checking them off, it's about building genuine relationships. And that's what makes it so powerful. You share things with your therapist that you haven't shared with anyone else! It's a bond that's real, intense, and life-changing. So, it's okay that it's not always perfect, and progress may not be linear. But with persistence and heart, the rewards are immeasurable. And sometimes, you even get to share cake recipes π.
