C-FORT is now offering a FREE training for Forensic Peer Support, for Peer Support within the Criminal Justice System (FPS-SIMs).
This training is exclusively for justice involved peer support professionals and will explore best practices within the Sequential Intercept Model. If you are not already familiar with the Sequential Intercept Model (SIM), you can learn more about it from SAMHSA, here.
The training was developed by PMHCA (Pennsylvania Mental Health Consumer Association), who are the forerunners in the FPS space.
Additionally, Peer Voice NC (North Carolina’s peer consumer network) is overseeing the implementation of this training within NC.
Training date and location:
September 23-25, from 9am-5pm
Cumberland County (in-person)
The training is free, but you are responsible for travel, and meals.
The training is only open to people who live or work in Cumberland County, and are currently certified as a NC Peer Support Specialist, who identify as having lived experience within the SIM.
It is a requirement that attendees attend every day of each training course. If training attendees are unable to attend all days and hours, we will be unable to issue a Certificate of Completion.
