🍂 Happy Thanksgiving from SCHRA! 🦃

This season, we’re especially thankful for the people who make our work meaningful — our dedicated staff, community partners, and the individuals and families we have the privilege to serve throughout South Central Tennessee. Your trust and support help us make a difference every single day.

We hope this holiday brings you time to rest, reflect, and enjoy the company of those you love most (and maybe a second slice of pie — we won’t judge!).

Please note that our offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 27–28, so our team can spend time with their families. We’ll reopen Monday, December 1, ready to finish the year strong.

From all of us at South Central Human Resource Agency — Happy Thanksgiving! 🧡

Important Update:
The issue below has been corrected. You can input your Electric Vendor now.

There is currently a system glitch in SmartSimple that is auto-filling the vendor name as “ALL GAS” — even when you’ve entered a different utility provider.

We need your help as you have done in the past. Thanks for your support.

For those needing food resources, see the information from the TN Department of Agriculture below.

Today, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee announced the launch of FeedTN.org a new platform connecting Tennesseans with resources and opportunities to serve their communities.

If you’re a SNAP recipient in Tennessee and looking for ways to fill the gap the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) — administered by our Commodities Staff here at TDA — provides nutritious food to eligible individuals and families. If you’re SNAP eligible, you are automatically eligible for TEFAP distributions.

Distribution is done DIRECTLY from your local food bank:
Use our interactive map to locate the food bank serving your county here. Simply select your county of residence from the dropdown menu and call the corresponding food bank or affiliate agency. There are HUNDREDS of affiliates on the map, so make sure to select your county to see them.

📢 Attention LIHEAP Applicants

We know many of you are currently applying for energy assistance through the new SmartSimple platform, which is required by THDA, our state funding agency.

🔹 Important Update:
There is currently a system glitch in SmartSimple that is auto-filling the vendor name as “ALL GAS” — even when you’ve entered a different utility provider.

✅ What to do:
Please continue submitting your application!
Our team can see your actual vendor and bill information on our end and will correct this manually to ensure your assistance is processed correctly.

We completely understand how frustrating this transition can be. Please know that these technical issues are outside of our agency’s control, and we are actively working with THDA and SmartSimple’s developers to get this fixed as quickly as possible.

❤️ Thank you for your patience, kindness, and understanding as our staff works hard to help families get the assistance they need.

Together, we’ll get through these growing pains and keep helping our communities stay warm and safe this season.

When Harriet Thompson enrolled her daughter in Head Start, she was a single mom working 12-hour shifts and attending college full time.

Head Start gave her peace of mind — and gave her daughter Tiffany the strong start that led to a 4.0 GPA and a lifetime of learning. 💙
