We believe every communication journey is unique just like this beautiful lemon branch artwork gifted to us by one of our amazing families 🍋
It’s a daily reminder of growth, connection, and how small moments can blossom into big progress. 💛
When parents ask what we look for in early speech + language development, these are a few gentle signs we pay attention to:
🗣️ 1. Babbling + Sound Play
Before words come sounds and lots of them! Those little squeals and babbles are the foundation of speech.
👋 2. Imitation + Gestures
Waving, clapping, and copying sounds show your toddler is learning through connection.
🧠 3. A Growing Word Bank
By around age 2, most toddlers have about 50 words and start pairing them “more milk,” “go car.”
👂 4. Clarity + Understanding
You (and close family) can usually understand a good portion of what your child wants, even if it’s not said perfectly yet.
💬 5. Connection + Engagement
Smiles, eye contact, and back-and-forth “conversations” (even in gibberish) mean your little one is learning how communication works.
🌼 A gentle reminder:
These are just average milestones, not boxes to check off with deadlines. What matters most is steady growth, curiosity, and connection along the way!!
If you ever find yourself wondering what’s typical or where to start, we’re always here to help families navigate those questions! One word, sound, and smile at a time. 💛
