This weather hits hard, especially for small businesses! When snow and ice roll in, it means canceled classes and markets, closed or empty storefronts, missed deliveries, and lost income — sometimes for days (or a whole week).
That kind of setback doesn’t just disappear once the roads clear.

Snowmageddon it's not but the ice does make a beautiful, relaxing sound tinking off of everything. Hoping that everyone remains safe and warm for the duration of this storm ❄️

Sending love to our unhoused neighbors and those withoit adequate provisions during this dangerous weather and gratitude to the organizations being of service 🙏

In Franklin County the Warming Shelter of Franklin County is open 24hrs a day during this storm

In Martinsville the MHC Warming Center will be open around the clock Saturday & Sunday

In Roanoke:

Roanoke Rescue Mission – 402 4th Street SE
· Will be “sheltering in place” over the weekend of January 24 & 25, 2026, as RADAR service is not anticipated to be available to transport shelter guests from the Mission to RAM House for day services. Guests will be permitted to remain onsite during the day over the weekend.
· Will be lifting shelter service suspensions so anyone can access shelter who needs it during the weather event.
· Plans for potential power outage includes use of space heaters and generator to shelter individuals on cots in the dining hall and chapel. Sandwiches would be provided to guests for meals in the event of a power outage.

Belmont Presbyterian Church – 1505 9th Street SE
· Has 80 cots to provide temporary shelter for unhoused individuals from Saturday through Monday.
· Will be providing 3 meals each day to guests. Guests will be permitted to remain onsite during the day.

The Least of These Ministry (TLOT) – 422 Luck Avenue SW
· Will have 48 cots to provide temporary shelter for unhoused individuals over the weekend.
· Plans to operate from 7pm – 7am, beginning Friday, 1/24.
· Has capacity to provide food, meals and warm space for guests during the day if needed.
· Will allow individuals to bring non-aggressive pets into the facility.

Roanoke Area Ministries (RAM) House – 824 Campbell Avenue SW
· Will be open normal hours on Saturday, 1/24, from 8:00am – 4:00pm to provide warm space and lunch to guests.
· Will be closed on Sunday, 1/25, and Monday, 1/26. Staff will be assisting in providing coverage at the Rescue Mission on these days.

Homeless Assistance Team (HAT)
· Visiting 28 known encampment sites on Thursday, 1/22 and Friday 1/23 with the RPD and staff from Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare to encourage individuals to access the above shelter options during the weather event.
· Transports are being offered to the above shelter sites through Friday, 1/23 at 5pm.
· Dedicated phone line (580-7314) is being provided to clients to schedule transport pick-ups
· Site visits will be completed by 5pm on Friday, 1/23.

· HAT is tracking the estimated number of individuals at each site, the number needing transport and the plans for the weekend of each individual encountered.

If you’ve attended any of my workshops then you know that I have a plentiful collection of foraging/ herbal/ natural healing books that I love to recommend and share. I even loan them out to participants and friends. During my recent workshop planning session I realized that I'm missing several books and I cannot remember who has borrowed what 🤦‍♀️ So this is my humble plea: If you have borrowed a book from me, could you please message me so that I can make plans to begin to gathering them🙏
