🌿✨ From Forest Floor to Finishing Salt Magic ✨🌿

Ramps are one of our favorite spring delicacies. We toss them into all kinds of dishes and absolutely must make a big ol’ batch of ramp salt to carry us through the year.
Normally, I’d throw some ramps in the dehydrator on the porch (pro tip: don’t dehydrate ramps indoors unless you want your whole house smelling loud 😅).

This year, after learning about the magic of freeze drying, I decided to seriously up my ramp game.

Of course I reached out to local flavor wizard Big Daddy’s Munchies! He’s known for turning candy and fresh foods into shelf-stable crunchy goodness through freeze drying. Their small-batch creations and local market presence have made them a favorite around the Roanoke Valley.

Why freeze dry ramps?
✅ Locks in that bold ramp flavor
✅ Preserves aroma and nutrients better than high-heat drying
✅ Creates a crisp product perfect for grinding
✅ Gives us year-round access to a fleeting spring harvest

Once they come back home, these ramps are getting transformed into an amazing Ramp Finishing Salt—the kind of sprinkle that takes any dish straight over the top. 🧂🔥 I know y’all are picking up what I’m putting down 😉

Happy Monday and Happy 4/20 🌿💚🌿
Some of y’all might read this and think, “I should’ve known she was one of them w**d smokers.” You’d be right 😘 But even more than that—I’m one of them true believers in the cannabis plant as a tool with a long history of practical use.

Cannabis has been explored and used to support pain relief, stress, anxiety, sleep, appetite, nausea, seizures, cancers, and overall quality of life for many people. Its also used for fiber, rope, clothing, paper, body care products, building materials like h**pcrete, and more.

That’s what makes this plant so fascinating to me: it can offer both wellness support and sustainable everyday resources.
