J Crow just crushed it at the Belgian Waffle Ride down in Fountain Hills, AZ! With a time of 8:13:36 he was flying with the spirit of the seagull🙂‍↔️

Here’s what he had to say about his fueling strategy:

“My nutrition plan for the race was to take in right around 100g of carbs per hour through 2 bottles of High Carb Spirit of the Seagull with 1 scoop of unflavored Hydra Mix in each bottle for additional electrolytes, 2,450mL of gel through mega gel flasks of a custom gel mix, and 2 standard 150mL gel flasks of a caffeinated custom gel mix.
I knew it was going to be an especially hot and long day, so I carried the gels in a vest that also held 2.5L of Blank’s mixer (plain water).

The breakdown of what was in each bottle is as follows:
- Bottle of High Carb Spirit of the Seagull: 100g of carbs & 800mg of sodium per bottle (200g of carbs & 1600mg of sodium in the bottles)
- Mega Flask 1: 3 servings of a custom gel mix that yielded 100g of carbs & 150mg of sodium per serving (300g of carbs total). My gel was flavored a watermelon x kiwi hybrid and viscosity level 2 to help it go down. I called this gel “ketchup”.
- Mega Flask 2: 3 servings of a custom gel mix that yielded 75g of carbs per serving (225g of carbs total) This gel was flavored a pineapple x piña colada hybrid and was viscosity level 2 as well. I called this gel “mustard”.
- Regular Gel Flasks: Each of these were 1 serving of a caffeinated gel mix that yielded 100g of carbs & 50mg of caffeine per serving (200g of carbs total).

GRAND TOTAL: 925g of carbs which roughly equaled out to 3,770 calories”
