When Elevate found a location in Orange County, they called on High Road to again adapt their retail concept into a new outpost. Located in Costa Mesa, this dispensary will bring their luxury cannabis brand to this affluent area south of LA.

2023 VMSD International Visual Competition - Food & Beverages/Consumables - 1st place, Noble Herb

The main showroom area features wood-look porcelain tile bordered by concrete-look porcelain, exuding a residential aesthetic. Shoppable zones feature flexible fixturing with a mix of open and enclosed fixtures, supporting a self-browsing customer journey. The custom queue rail system guides shoppers toward the point-of-sale through impulse and apparel displays, allowing shoppers to continue browsing while waiting for purchase.

2023 VMSD International Visual Competition - Food & Beverages/Consumables - 1st place, Noble Herb

A major challenge for cannabis retailers are the restrictions placed on product displays. A benefit to other retail categories is the opportunity for shoppers to have a full sensory experience—seeing, touching, tasting, smelling or trying something on for size. Cannabis regulations prohibit access to the product—medicated products can’t be on display or accessible to shoppers. This makes creating enticing functional displays difficult.

Noble Herb overcame the challenge by investing in creating faux versions of many of their edible products, a strategy being employed by more and more brands. This allows the products to be displayed in a compliant yet appealing way. And they are non-perishable and always look good. This achieves the visual interest important for edible product displays and also gives the merchandising team display flexibility—a more effective strategy than the creative arrangement of empty packages.

High Road is proud to announce that our design for Noble Herb has won first place in the VMSD International Visual Competition in the Food & Beverages/Consumables category.

Our goal for creating the visual displays was to provide a sophisticated way of featuring and retailing a variety of products in a highly branded environment— allowing different brands to be inserted into a beautiful retail environment in a very bespoke manner.

We wanted the showroom area to provide a more sophisticated way of featuring and retailing products with merchandising flexibility to support in-house brands while introducing sought-after shelf space and retail opportunities to generate revenue through brand partnerships.

The implemented fixture & visual merchandising program provides a mix of enclosed and open fixtures to display cannabis products in a creative and compliant way more like traditional retail stores.
