Timothy “Tim” Simmons, 61, of Sand Fork, West Virginia, passed away on March 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Tim was a devoted man who lived life to the fullest, filled with love, laughter, and a passion for adventure.

A lifelong Harley Davidson enthusiast, Tim spent many hours riding his motorcycle, embracing the freedom of the open road. He also loved the thrill of riding side-by-sides, often venturing into the outdoors and making memories with those closest to him. Tim's greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family. Whether he was sharing a quiet moment with loved ones or playing with his grandchildren, he always made time for those he held dear.

Tim was a proud Pentecostal by faith, finding comfort and strength in his beliefs. Music was another great love of his, especially the timeless sounds of Meat Loaf, whose powerful music mirrored Tim’s own vibrant spirit.

He is survived by his fiancé, Connie Carpenter; sons Terry and Josh Simmons; stepdaughter Heather Jamison; stepson Joshua Minney; brother Dale Simmons; sisters Drema Justice, Karen Maxey, and Linda Simmons; and his beloved grandchildren, Ben, Stephen, Luke, Alex, Izzy, Juliet, Liam, Gage, Joshua, Holden, and Isaiah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Loretta Jean Simmons, and brother, Philip Simmons, and by other brothers and sisters.

Tim will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, faith, and adventure will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Service for Tim will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Stockert Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV. Pastor Bryan Groves will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. before the service. Burial will follow the service at Braxton Memorial Cemetery, Airport Road, Sutton, WV.

Anita Marie Woods of Strange Creek, WV, entered into eternal rest on February 22, 2026. Born on June 27, 1970, in Neptune, NJ, she lived a life characterized by devotion to her family and an adventurous spirit.

A graduate of BCHS, Anita married her beloved husband, Bart Len Woods, on April 17, 1988. Their union was filled with shared passions, including their time as avid motorcycle enthusiasts and members of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. Anita was the heart of her home, where she loved to cook and create delicious meals for her family. She cherished the years raising her children, creating lasting memories during family game nights, playing Monopoly, Pac-Man, Super Mario, and card games. Anita loved collecting bears and displaying them in the house. Her husband, Bart, gave her the first bear she owned many years ago.

A woman of profound faith, Anita was a dedicated member of Martin Baptist Church. She found great purpose in attending church conferences and lived her life guided by her Christian values. Her greatest joy, however, was found in the company of her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

Anita is survived by her husband, Bart Len Woods; her mother, Rita Floyd; and her children, Brian Adam Woods and his partner, Brandy McHenry; Christopher Woods and his wife, Jessica Greenlief; and Brittany Nicole Harris and her husband, Johnny Harris. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Tyson, Blake, Hunter, River, Johnny, Aurora, and Dakota. She is also survived by her sister, Rebecca Reeves, and her brothers, Robert Floyd and Wayne Floyd. She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Floyd; her brother, Robert "Bobby" Floyd; and her sister, Dorothy Ann Meadows.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Stockert Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm. with Larry Shepherd officiating. Anita will be cremated following the service.

David Lee Pardue, 47, of Burnsville, WV, passed away on February 16, 2026. He was born on August 29, 1978, in Weston, WV.

David was a Christian by faith and a loving father to his girls. He was a lifelong resident of Braxton County. David was employed by Mountain State Power Tongs in Burnsville, WV. He enjoyed working and providing for his family. David was an avid movie watcher, spending countless hours binge-watching movies. He was an organized person who liked everything in its place. He was a loving and generous man who would give the shirt off his back if someone was in need. David was selfless and did everything he could to help his family and friends. He loved spending time with his family, especially his girls.

David is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob Pardue, Terry Dean, and Shelba Jean Allen, and his aunt Becky Heater.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Ratliff (Cody), his father’s, Randy Ratliff and David Allen; his daughters, Autumn White, Abigail Godfrey (Nate), Allie White and Allyssa Pardue; his siblings, Anthony, Erica and Bobbie Sue; grandmother, Linda Dean and grandfather, Bob Allen; he is also survived by many other family members.

Service for David will be at 1 pm, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Stockert Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV. Visitation will be from 11-1 pm before the service. Burial will follow the service at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burnsville, WV.

Dennis E Rogerson, age 68, of Moundsville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2026. His family was by his side. He was born May 22, 1957, in Wheeling, WV, the son of Norman “Sonny” and Vena (Dancy) Rogerson.

An avid historian of American and world events, he was also deeply rooted in the scriptures of the Holy Bible. Dennis lived a life filled with the Holy Spirit, having acknowledged the gospel of Jesus Christ at an early age, and was a lifelong Christian by faith through grace.

He was a loving and devoted brother to his siblings, Myra and David, and uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Dennis was the brother-in-law that every man or woman hopes for, but few are ever blessed to have. He was a humble, kindhearted soul who knew no strangers, spoke only the truth, had no mortal enemies, and was truly loved by everyone who knew him.

Dennis was preceded into eternal peace by his parents, Norman “Sonny” and Vena (Dancy) Rogerson. Surviving are his sister Myra (Gregg) Crow of Columbus, OH, and brother David (Adrienne) Rogerson of Mooresville, NC. Nieces: Amber (Michael) Shannon of Hilliard, OH, and Tiffany (Michael) Deal of Mooresville, NC. Nephews: Dylan Crow of Grandview, OH, Ryan (Alexis) Crow of Charleston, SC, Tobias (Toby) Rogerson of Lewisville, TX, David M Rogerson of Mooresville, NC, Ethan and Owen Shannon of Hilliard, OH, Connor, Cameron, Christian & Carter Deal of Mooresville, NC.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank his special cousin and caregiver, Debbie (Rogerson) Jocum, and husband Greg, for all of their effort and support during this difficult and challenging time. Deb and Greg, your support and sacrifices are not lost on us - we will be the rest of our days in deep gratitude to you.

A private graveside service will be held at Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens in Heaters, WV (Braxton County), where Dennis will go to rest high on that mountain with family and loved ones who have gone on before.

Mavadell Barkets, 98, of Flatwoods, WV, passed away on February 4th, 2026, at Braxton Healthcare Center. She was born August 17, 1927, to the late Charles and Irene Richardson.

Mava was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 67 years, George Barkets, and by her cousin, Laura “Jimmy” Brown.

Left to cherish her memory are nieces Cynthia and Kim Brown, both of Belpre, Ohio.

Mava was a member of Flatwoods Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Stockert Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Acord officiating. Visitation will be from 12 pm - 1 pm before the service. Burial will follow at Flatwoods Cemetery, Flatwoods, WV.

Robert Herman Moore, 84, of Burnsville, WV, passed away on February 6, 2026, at home with his loving wife by his side. He was born on June 6, 1941, in Baltimore, MD, to parents Harry A. Moore and Anna (Amhrein) Moore.

Robert was a Christian and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, WV. He loved listening to music, especially classical. Robert was a member of the Baltimore Colts Band in his younger years. One of his hobbies was woodworking. He could take a piece of wood and create something special. He also enjoyed yard work. Keeping his yard manicured was important to him. Robert met his wife, Linda, on a blind date, and they married a few months later. They were married for almost 63 years and shared a lifetime of memories with their family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harry A. Moore, Jr., and sisters, Doris Dimler, Marlene Dipasquale, Jean Pychner, Thelma Lawhorn, Anita Moore, grandson, Nathan Brennen Moore, and adopted granddaughter, Erica Reitz.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his children, Robert Moore, Jr and wife, Danni and Dawn Moore and partner, Kaye; grandchildren, Sarah Scott, Rebecca Moore, Alex Moore, Maddie Moore, Owen Thomas Moore; nieces, Carolyn Farmer, Christine Gillian, Janet Bosley, Stephanie Allen; nephews, Thomas Horsey, Douglas Bailey, Dana Whitt, Gary Moore, Richard McCauley, Jeffery McCauley, Jamie McCauley and Jason McCauley.

Carl Ray Blake, 86, of Bridgeport, WV, and formerly of Burnsville, WV, passed away on February 6, 2026. He was born in Exchange, WV, on September 30, 1939, to parents Hobert and Beulah (Riffle) Blake.

Carl Ray was a Christian by faith and a member of the Little Kanawha Independent Church. He was a retired plumber working out of the Pipefitters Union with 40+ years of service. Carl Ray was a pilot for more than 50 years and piloted his own plane. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends. Carl Ray was a friend to everyone he met. He was a generous man and was always there to help when a friend was in need. Carl Ray will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Esther Blake, and brother, Harvey Blake.

Carl Ray is survived by his daughters, Darlene Scott and husband, Rick, Melinda Huffman and husband, Terry; grandchildren, Amanda Hastings, Gregory Ramsey, and Landon Moore; and great-grandchildren, Avery and Bowen Hastings; brother, Earl Blake, and sisters, Marjorie Bleigh and Ulah Frame.

Service will be at 1 pm, Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Stockert Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV. Visitation will be from 11-1 before the service. Pastor Jennings Dancy will officiate the service. Final resting place will be in the Cutlipsville Cemetery.

Dana Craig Singleton, 64, of Clarksburg, WV, and formerly of Orlando, WV, passed away on January 29, 2026. He was born to parents, William “Shimmy” Singleton and Nancy Conrad Singleton, on December 22, 1961.

Craig was a good-hearted man who went out of his way to help others. He was a thoughtful person and cared deeply for his family and friends, and enjoyed buying them gifts. Craig loved to shop for himself and others. He served in the United States Air Force and volunteered for the Honor Guard upon leaving the military.

Craig is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Joe Singleton and David Singleton, and sister, Diane Slaughter
He is survived by his brothers, Delmas Singleton and wife, (Diann), Rick Singleton and wife, (Gayla); sisters, Sue and husband, (Bob) McKisic, Kathy and husband, (Billy Ray) Thomas; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Singleton.

Glenn Lee “Doc” Singleton, 88, of Copen, WV, passed away on January 27, 2026, at Braxton County Memorial Hospital-WVU Medicine. He was born at home in Bonnie, WV, on December 28, 1937, to Minnie “Dick” Singleton.

Glenn was a member of the Copen Independent Baptist Church. He loved being outdoors, mowing the grass, growing a garden, cutting firewood, and working in his wood shop. Glenn spent most of his career life working as a tree cutter at Carson Logging, Jim Wayne Logging, and Jerry O. Long Contracting.

He is preceded in death by Minnie “Dick” Singleton, his mother, Peggy Bragg Riffle, the mother of his children, and Sylvia Huffman Singleton, the mother of his step-children.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Larry Singleton (Cathy), Sutton, WV; Jenny Rees, Burnsville, WV; Bill Singleton (Renni), Frametown, WV; Glenna Stephenson (Bobby), Huntington, WV; and Sue Rutherford (Sam), Sutton, WV. Also left to cherish his memory are his step-children (who he thought of as his own): Robert Huffman (Marlee), Gassaway, WV; Carolyn Lewis (Lee), Napier, WV; and Brenda Long (Jerry), Chapel, WV; one brother, Joe Singleton (Louella), Exchange, WV; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the doctor and nurses on staff at Braxton County Memorial Hospital at the time of his death, as well as the staff at Clay Healthcare Center, Ivydale, WV. A special thank you is extended to Jerry Huffman, Bud Belknap, Jack Belknap, and Jerry & Carol Edwards. Thanks also go out to two very special ladies from the Braxton County Senior Center; Shandi Tenney and Phyllis Harwell.

Glenn’s wishes were to be cremated. A private service for the family will be held at a later date.

Deborah Mae Campbell, 88, of Flatwoods, WV, passed away on January 13, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born at home to parents, Rev. John V. and Bertha M. Gibson, on December 22, 1937.

Deborah was a Methodist by faith and a member of Mt Nebo Church. She had a talent for growing a beautiful flower garden. Her favorite flower to grow was a zinnia. Deborah’s other hobbies included reading, canning vegetables, and listening to bluegrass and gospel music.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William H. Campbell; her brothers, John E. Gibson, Hubert Gibson, Loye Gibson, William Gibson, Wilton Gibson, Roy Thomas Gibson; and her sisters. Flossie Wymer, Iva Bosley, Betty Gibson, Leah Smith, and Emogene Bloom.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Esther Gibson and Husband, Mitchel Dunn; sister, Sarah J. Williams, and brother, James F. Gibson and wife, Opal, and many nieces and nephews.

Homer C. Hines, 87, of Frametown passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on January 9, 2026 at Braxton Healthcare Center. Homer was born on April 3, 1938 to William Francis and Cecile Warren Hines, both deceased.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Hines, his son Lee Prescott, Sr., grandson, Eric Brown, sister, Mary and two brothers, Bill and Joe Hines.

He is survived by sister, Kaye Story of Leesburg, FL, daughter, Jeanine Given and husband, Ed, of Sutton, WV, daughter, Patty Ennis and husband, Mark of Ellabell, GA, son, Cecil Hines and wife, Sonnee, of Parsons, WV, daughter, Renee Hines of Wilson, NC, son, David Hines and wife, Vickie of Frametown, WV, niece, Laura Dowling and husband, James of Savannah,GA, 17 grandchildren, their spouses and partners, 35 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Homer was born in Jeffersonville, IN and lived there until 1946. From 1940-1945 he lived with a caretaker while both his parents worked in Indianapolis, IN at Willys building Jeeps for the war effort. The family moved to south central Florida in 1946.

In 1957, while working at a meat packing plant, Homer met Pat. They married in 1958. He worked at a dairy farm until the mid-1960’s. His father-in-law taught him to operate heavy equipment and it was this vocation, building Eisenhower’s Interstate system, that eventually brought him to West Virginia. Homer and Pat both loved the mountains so much that he changed careers to strip mining coal so they could make Braxton County their home.

Homer loved to work. He only retired at the age 76 to care for his ailing wife. Homer especially loved to dance, but only to classic country music. He loved spending time with his huge, boisterous family.

Homer donated his body to West Virginia University for scientific study.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and celebrate Homer’s life on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 2-4 pm at Stockert Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV.

Donations can be made in Homer’s name to Braxton County Senior Citizens Center, 23 Sr. Center Drive, Sutton, WV 26601, or WV Hospice, 21 E Main St Suite 301, Buckhannon, WV 26201.

Mark was a gifted artist and a talented cook. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Montana Groff and sister, Brenda Kay Clark.
