Flint Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma Program

Flint Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma Program The Flint ReCAST Program is designed to promote resilience in the Flint community.

Flint Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma (ReCAST) is a federally funded initiative focused on improving the lives of high-risk youth and families impacted by the Flint Water Crisis. Flint ReCAST seeks to promote resilience and equity through implementation of evidence-based violence prevention and community youth engagement programs, as well as linkages to trauma-informed behavioral

health services. Flint ReCAST envisions the greater Flint community working together in ways that lead to improved behavioral health, empowered community residents, reductions in trauma, and sustained community change. Flint ReCAST is a program of the City of Flint and the Greater Flint Health Coalition serves as the facilitation partner for the program.

We are excited to promote an upcoming workshop in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, the Ruth Mott Foundation, and Sankofa, led by local racial healing practitioners, Kristin Pollard, Regina Laurie, and Sarah Sullivan. This is a follow-up to conversations sparked during the 2026 National Day of Racial Healing and part of CFGF's ongoing Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) efforts. During the workshop, attendees will reflect on lessons from the civil rights movement led by Black Americans to inform our response to support civic engagement and democracy today.

- Highlight changes that were made possible when people organized, committed, and embraced courageous civic engagement.
- Explore the concept of Kingian nonviolence and the role it played in creating change.
- Deep dive into one of the principles of nonviolence โ€“ building beloved community. How do we do it and why is it important today?
- Support next steps and continued learning and unlearning.
