ROSC on a difficult call is never the result of one person, itโ€™s the product of skill, trust, and true partnership.

Today we recognize Chanceโ€™s accomplishment in achieving return of spontaneous circulation and, just as importantly, the incredible teamwork behind it. Rachelโ€™s clinical excellence, calm presence, and seamless partnership during a high-stress moment made all the difference.

Because of their combined efforts, someone was given another chance at life.

This is what strong partnerships in EMS look like.

๐Ÿš‘ A Quick Look at EMS History ๐Ÿš‘

Modern EMS didnโ€™t just appear, it was built.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Major Jonathan Letterman
During the Civil War, Jonathan Letterman created the first organized battlefield ambulance and triage system - the foundation of modern EMS.

๐Ÿš‘ Freedom House โ€“ 1967
In Pittsburgh, the Freedom House Ambulance Service became one of the first paramedic programs in the U.S., proving advanced prehospital care saves lives.

โšก First Mobile Defibrillator
In 1966, Frank Pantridge introduced the first portable defibrillator, weighing 150 pounds and powered by a car battery. Field cardiology was born.

๐Ÿ“ž First 911 Call
The first 911 call was placed in 1968 in Haleyville, Alabama, launching the emergency system we rely on today.

๐ŸŽ“ NREMT Levels
Through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians:
EMR โ†’ EMT โ†’ AEMT โ†’ Paramedic

From battlefield triage to 12-lead transmission in the living room, EMS keeps evolving.

Drop a ๐Ÿš‘ if youโ€™re proud to wear the patch.

Today we recognize an outstanding accomplishment by Mattie, FPC, whose leadership, clinical skill, and teamwork resulted in a successful Return of Spontaneous Circulation on a critical patient.

ROSC is never the result of one provider. It is the product of precision, communication, and trust under pressure.

Mattie expressed sincere appreciation for the incredible teamwork demonstrated by Medic Student, Cortney, who stepped up and remained focused throughout the call. Partner, TJ, provided steady clinical decision making and seamless coordination from start to finish. Florence Fire delivered strong, consistent compressions and cohesive scene support that directly contributed to the patientโ€™s outcome.

As a Flight Paramedic Certified provider, Mattie continues to demonstrate advanced clinical excellence and a commitment to mentorship, teamwork, and patient advocacy. Certifications reflect knowledge, but actions in the field reflect leadership.

Most importantly, because of their rapid assessment, decisive interventions, and coordinated resuscitation efforts, someone went home to their family. That is the true measure of this profession. Lives are not just saved in moments like this. They are returned to the people who love them. Outstanding work by every provider involved.

๐Ÿš‘ The Meaning Behind the Star of Life

The Star of Life is more than a symbol. It represents the foundation of Emergency Medical Services.

Adopted in 1973 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the six-pointed star reflects the six key functions of EMS:

-Detection
-Reporting
-Response
-On-scene care
-Care in transit
-Transfer to definitive care

At its center is the Rod of Asclepius, an ancient symbol of medicine representing healing and care.

Across the country and around the world, the Star of Life stands for readiness, professionalism, and commitment to serving our communities when they need it most.

Proud to wear it. ๐Ÿš‘

Today we proudly recognize Sarah for an incredible save.

Sarah achieved Return of Spontaneous Circulation on a critical patient, giving that patient something priceless, a tomorrow.

ROSC is never accidental. It is the result of relentless training, calm decision making, teamwork, and the courage to lead when seconds matter most. Sarah demonstrated all of it.

As a Critical Care Paramedic, she brings advanced knowledge and clinical precision to every call. As a USAF veteran, she exemplifies discipline, resilience, and service before self. As an educator, she pours into the next generation of EMS professionals. And as an outdoorswoman, she carries grit and determination into every challenge she faces.

Because of her actions, a family has hope today.
