At the Center for Sacred Window Studies, we recognize the systemic inequalities, which is why we work with people that come from these types of backgrounds. It is about doing what’s right in life. Life is about how we treat others, especially when it comes to this type of work when there is systemic inequality for indigenous people of various backgrounds. We are all indigenous because whoever lives a natural life with respect to others is considered indigenous. But at CSWS we work with the ancestors that have paved the way who came before us. Pregnancy is sacred. Pregnancy is beautiful. Pregnancy is celebrated in India—it is called Godh Bharai. It is a ritual and it is different in many different parts of the country, it focusses on one aspect – celebrating motherhood and blessing the yet-to- be-born baby. In western culture, we call it the baby shower. How interesting though to see how more spiritual it is in India rather than materialistic as it is in the West. We can see the roots of the different people of race and what their ancestors valued more of when it came to celebrating the mother and baby—the beginning of life itself. Bringing this to the surface is very important when it comes to certifying people in traditional Indian postpartum care. This is a lifestyle for them. Not just a “profession.” When we look at this role as a caregiver like it is just a profession, then we won’t be solving any postpartum care issues in our community. It’s all about having deep respect for the mother and baby/newborn family.

There is a problem in America and in western countries at large. It is the impregnated youth without any traditional community birth, pregnancy, and postpartum care. How do we take care of them and nurture them? Let’s start by having more traditional birth courses in schools that we pay for online totally free of charge. Let’s not have only regular basic s*x ed classes. S*x is such a huge rite of passage within it of itself. Let’s remind the youth by teaching them the sacredness of s*x first and then the sacredness of bringing a baby into this world. The sacredness of preparing for it.

Why does the cold weather feel isolating for first-time mothers and fathers with their first child in America? It is because of the cultural lack of authentic love and celebration. The real question for this is how do we fix this problem? Yes by becoming postpartum caregivers in traditional cultural care such as Ayurveda. But it is also by actually stepping into the energy of it. That’s what’s missing. It is the cultural energy from the people that actually created the culture of Ayurvedic postpartum care.

It is autumn season here and newborn mothers during this time can feel so isolated with their baby months after giving birth. The cold can make the isolation feel much worse. The best option is to find a community that best fits all of your needs. Yes ALL of it mama! You’re a mother now. Manifest whatever care that you desire. Own it and go for it because you deserve it! ♥️✨

What is Kitchari and how can it help your client after giving birth?

Kitchari is Ayurveda’s perfect food, indicated in times of recovery as well as plain old digestive discomfort.

Kitchari can even be the centerpiece of a mono-diet or fast, as it is a simple recovery food that supplements the healing process. The healing process we are talking about is the postpartum window. A simple Kitchari cleanse can be used for 7 consecutive days after giving birth to create sacred space for optimal rejuvenation of the mind, body, and spirit.

When we have a hospital birth we invite strangers into our birthing space and this is not sacred at all. What is sacred is having only pure loving souls involved with the process. Souls that love you and trust your birthing power AND postpartum power.

The hospital food around the world is quite disgusting. It is not nourishing, it is not presented well with loving intention, and it, undoubtedly, creates aggravation within the mind, body, and soul of the mother and baby because it doesn’t have any nutrients. Both will have aggravation because the two are interconnected with each other.

Hospital food is given to mothers after giving birth to their child. After experiencing a massive shift within their body, soul, and mind. This food is not nourishing and does not help at all with preventing postnatal maternal illness. That is why in our program, we go on a deep dive in learning how to cook traditional + nourishing Ayurvedic postpartum dishes.
