Cooler weather can sometimes bring out tooth sensitivity, especially if you have receding gums, worn enamel, or are using whitening treatments.

Here's a pro tip: Try switching to a toothpaste made for sensitive teeth, and se lukewarm water when brushing. If you still notice discomfort, it's worth having it checked. Sensitivity can sometime be a sign of early enamel wear or gum inflammation.

Long before modern dentistry, Native Americans used chewing sticks from aromatic trees as toothbrushes, herbal rinses made from sage, willow bark, or yarrow to fight bacteria, and even porcupine quills or small bones to clean between teeth.

They also practiced holistic oral health by eating fiber-rich foods that naturally cleaned teeth, used herbal poultices for toothaches, and passed down oral care knowledge through generations. Some communities even performed simple tooth extractions and used plants as mild pain relief!

We owe a lot to the wisdom of the past, and today on we celebrate and honor these practices and the communities who created them. 🪶🌎
