Hey friends,

I don't know about you, but I’ve always found the month of December to be challenging. Now, challenging isn’t always a bad thing because sometimes you come out on the other end of the challenge/difficulty with more wisdom, more peace, and feeling more sure footed. However, in the midst of the difficulty the last things in your wheelhouse may be peace and joy. After I started practicing yoga, I started seeing December as an opportunity to hunker down and recalculate. I know a lot of people like to wait until January to get all their "ducks in a row", but I find the end of the year a perfect time to do that. If you'd like to join us in December, there is still time. This month, we have a few community holiday opportunities to accommodate your busy schedules!

Special Holiday Single Session Community Class options for December $20 per session
These are NOT drop in classes, rather single session sign ups to add to your yoga /fitness schedule. You can sign up for 1, or a few, and mix and match! This is a special holiday offer for the month of December, so don't miss out! You will need to sign up in advance with Brenna via email. Space is limited, so snag your spot while they are still available! theclinic.brenna@gmail.com

FMYoga 2 Tuesday nights 5:45pm with Ann (meeting dates: 12/9, 12/16, or 12/30)

FMYoga 2 Saturday mornings with Tara/Lisa (meeting dates: 12/6, 12/13, or 12/20)

These options are open to non-members as well. Please note these classes are not appropriate for anyone with daily pain, or knee, hip or shoulder issues. As always, new students will need to set up a brief phone consultation with Brenna before joining us for class.

***Our mission for longevity and massive joy still remains, as does the boundary we work with in order to integrate new folks in class in the safest manner possible. Consultations can be set up by emailing theclinic.brenna@gmail.com.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Here’s to more love, more peace and more joy. 💗

Do your little bits of good… it’s those little bits of good all put together that overwhelm the world. Wise words from the late archbishop Desmond Tutu 💙

As summer winds down and fall rolls in, our pantry shelves at Stewpot are starting to look a little empty. This is the time of year when food donations slow down—but the need in our community stays the same.

The items listed here are our pantry’s most urgent needs right now. By picking up a few extra items on your next grocery run—or ordering from our Amazon Wishlist—you can make a real difference for families in our community.

🕗 Drop-off hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm

Q: When should you inhale in a pose and when should you exhale?
A: Most important, breathe. As in, don’t hold your breath. If the teacher instructs the breath with a specific movement, attempt to follow their lead, but there isn’t a cookie cutter answer on this one. Short answer is it’s best not to hold your breath. That’s something all of us need to be aware of, not just in yoga, but every day life.

Q: Should you breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, or opposite? Or only through your nose, etc...
A: Jokingly, we live in MS, with pollen and allergies and all, so good luck having 2 working nostrils all at the same time! Short answer again, don’t get caught up on nose vs mouth. Go back to just being able to breath in a pose, and keep it steady and regular. No need to do Darth Vadar breathing in yoga. You know who you are 😂 In all seriousness, I’m more concerned about the trend circulating that consists of inhale for *** seconds, then hold your breath (DONT!) for *** seconds, then exhale for *** seconds. This pattern can be harmful to your lungs, your heart, not to mention uproot your emotional state (and who needs that?) My point is that one size doesn’t fit all, and we have to stop teaching, coaching and preaching like it does.

We’ve taken certain classical yoga poses off of our FMYoga syllabus, and this is one of them. Why? The risk just isn’t worth the reward. This pose is called Halasana, or plow pose. Alleged benefits are “opens the shoulders”, but there are plenty of other MUCH better ways to manage shoulder function and mobility. The BIGGEST risk of this pose is mismanagement of the cervical spine (aka your neck). We’re here to educate, to make yoga more accessible, more functional, and so much safer. Who’s in it for longevity? We are! 🙌 If you’re looking to improve your overall wellbeing without risk of being turned into a pretzel, we would love to have you join us! The good news, our method makes you stronger too! August session begins Monday 8/4. 4 weeks long. Email Brenna for more information or to sign up. Theclinic.brenna@gmail.com
