Ragan’s Birth Story 🤍✨
Ragan reached out to me later in her pregnancy, seeking doula support because she wanted to feel fully equipped to birth her baby unmedicated and without unnecessary interventions.
When I asked how she found me, she told me she found me through ChatGPT — and I’ll be honest, I initially thought she might be a spammer because she was literally a dream 💭 client.
She knew exactly what she wanted, already had a solid plan, and simply wanted an advocate to help reinforce her wishes and protect her birth space.
Ragan’s labor was just as intentional and calm as she was.
On Thursday afternoon, she texted me to say she had lost part of her mucus plug but wasn’t feeling any other signs that labor was near. I encouraged her to continue with her normal routine. On Saturday, she checked in again — more mucus plug, still no labor signs — so again, business as usual.
Late Saturday night, things began to shift. She experienced light spotting and mild contractions. Around 1:15 a.m., Sunday 12/14/25 she texted that her water had broken. I was asleep and didn’t see the message, but at 2:45 a.m., she called me — contracting.
Listening to her on the phone, she sounded calm and composed. No vocalizing, no signs of distress — which led me to believe she was still in early labor. I stayed on the phone with her, listening closely to her breathing, waiting for subtle changes. At one point I asked, “Do you have a high pain tolerance?” She replied, “A little bit.”
I told her I was getting ready and could either come to her or meet her at her chosen birth place. She chose the hospital. Right before we hung up, she asked, “Do I have to do it naturally still?”
That question told me everything.
That’s the moment — the point where many moms feel like they can’t go on — and I knew immediately she was likely in transition. It was time to move fast.
We arrived at the hospital at 3:42 a.m., and Ragan was already crowning upon arrival. A true precipitous labor. Just twelve minutes later, at 3:54 a.m., her baby boy was welcomed earthside.
Congratulations to the Bridges family.
Sweet baby boy — you are already so deeply loved. 🤍
