🔊Attention Wisconsin music therapists!

The next step of the Music Therapy Licensure Bill is to get a senate hearing. We need to convince Chris Kapenga, the Chair of the Licensing, Regulatory Reform, and State and Federal Affairs Committee, to give the bill a Senate hearing. Historically, he has not supported regulating professions, so we need to make our voices LOUD.

We want to have a hearing scheduled by the end of February!

WAYS TO HELP:
1. Call Kapenga (even if he is not your state sr senator) at (608)266-9174
2. Email Kapenga at Sen.Kapenga@legis.wisconsin.gov
3. Reach out to your state senator to get them to encourage Kapenga to give the bill a hearing (find your senator at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/My-Elected-Officials)
4. Encourage organizations/clients/caregivers to contact Kapenga.

Advocate for licensure!!!!

Our licensure bill is heading to the Assembly Committee on Mental Health and Substance Abuse Prevention on Nov 4th at 2pm at the Madison State Capitol! 🏛

Please join us in Madison and share your testimony and advocate for licensure by attending, submitting written testimony, or encouraging others (clients, clients' caregivers, organizations) to do so.

Join us for the town hall tonight!!!!

Hello Wisconsin Music Therapists!
We will be holding a virtual town hall meeting on Wednesday, September 10th at 7:30 PM and we want you to be there to learn about proposed legislation that will create a music therapy license in the state. We are eager to hear your questions and discuss how you can engage in advocacy with our state legislators. The meeting will be recorded and made available.

The Wisconsin music therapy licensure task force has been working with Representative Barbara Dittrich (R-Ocononomowoc) to introduce a music therapy licensure bill this fall. The representative's office has recommended a quick turn around to hold a Hill Day on 9/16/25 to create buzz about the introduction of the bill and we want to keep Wisconsin music therapists informed about this bill regarding licensure.

Joining us at the town hall will be representatives from the national level who have been working with state task forces across the US to establish Music Therapy Licensure.
