Apply for the Founder’s Fund scholarship!

This fund is a memorial to all the founders of Music Therapy in the state of Wisconsin. The primary goals are to support our music therapy students and to help advance the knowledge and passions of our founders.
Two students or interns from an approved Music Therapy academic/internship site in Wisconsin will be awarded reimbursement of $75 for registration to the Great Lakes Region of AMTA regional conference.

Applications must be completed and submitted by February 1, 2026, prior to regional conference. A committee will review your application and announce the recipient of the award at the GLR Regional Conference state business meeting. CBMT exam reimbursement opportunity!!!!!

WCMT would like to award the efforts of our new and emerging professional MT-BC's! To enter for a chance for reimbursement, please submit your entry form by February 1, 2026 (proof of your 2025 CBMT exam fee will be requested upon receiving this form).

Recipient does not need to be a current WCMT member, but applicants should either be working in Wisconsin, graduated from a Wisconsin based music therapy program, or having completed an internship based in Wisconsin. The recipient will be randomly selected from the pool of applicants and notified of their winning in February. Entry form found in our bio link: bio.site/wcmt

Do you know an amazing music therapist deserving some recognition? Nominate said MT-BC for our annual Music Therapist of the Year Award! Any music therapist in the state of Wisconsin may be nominated, regardless of membership status in the Wisconsin Chapter for Music Therapy (WCMT). A music therapist may not self nominate for this award. The winner will be named "Music Therapist of the Year" and receive a $175 gift certificate for West Music products in addition to a free CMTE workshop or class provided by WCMT.

Nominations are due by February 1, 2026 and a winner will be selected prior to and announced at the Wisconsin Chapter Business Meeting during the Great Lakes Region Conference. Nomination form can be found in our bio link: bio.site/wcmt

Info about music therapy licensure in Wisconsin!

📣 Exciting Updates on our road to licensure! 📣

On January 6, our bill, Assembly Bill 492, was passed out of the Assembly Committee on Mental Health and Substance Abuse Prevention. This got us to our next step in getting to the floor for a vote.

The task force needs your help!

We need music therapists around the state to encourage the committee chair of the Senate Committee for Licensing, Regulatory Reform, and State and Federal affairs, Sen. Chris Kapenga, to grant the bill a hearing.

Check your email for the subject line "Unanimous Assembly Support — Next Step: Senate Hearing Needed" from January 13th on for how you can help. Now is the time to take action by contacting your representing Senator, the chair of this committee, or organizations you know will advocate for music therapy in this way.

Let's get out and write, call, or by all means, pigeon carrier, to advocate for this hearing!

🔊Attention Wisconsin music therapists!

The next step of the Music Therapy Licensure Bill is to get a senate hearing. We need to convince Chris Kapenga, the Chair of the Licensing, Regulatory Reform, and State and Federal Affairs Committee, to give the bill a Senate hearing. Historically, he has not supported regulating professions, so we need to make our voices LOUD.

We want to have a hearing scheduled by the end of February!

WAYS TO HELP:
1. Call Kapenga (even if he is not your state sr senator) at (608)266-9174
2. Email Kapenga at Sen.Kapenga@legis.wisconsin.gov
3. Reach out to your state senator to get them to encourage Kapenga to give the bill a hearing (find your senator at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/My-Elected-Officials)
4. Encourage organizations/clients/caregivers to contact Kapenga.
