We are beyond excited to announce this year’s Music Therapist of the Year: Lisa Paulson, MT-BC!
Lisa (she/her) works as a hospice music therapist at Horizon Home Care & Hospice, has served on the WCMT board for several terms, and supports students as a clinical supervisor and internship supervisor.
Lisa’s nominator expressed:
“Lisa exemplifies many qualities of an outstanding music therapist, friend, co-worker, clinical supervisor and internship supervisor. Lisa is passionate about making sure that all persons are seen and heard. Lisa is constantly engaging in thoughtful discussions with her peers, coworkers and government leaders on how to draw light to areas that need attention. Lisa has a warm and welcoming light that her patients and families that she serves in the hospice setting will often comment on. Lisa has served in many different capacities in the WCMT, previously as a Vice President. Lisa also serves on the Green Committee at Horizon Home Care and Hospice and is often seen volunteering in church and in her children's schools. Lisa is a quiet leader that needs to be recognized for her many excellent attributes.”
She expressed her greatest passion for music therapy is “connecting with people; that moment where you see a spark of recognition in someone's eyes, a sigh of relaxation, laughter as family shares a memory, or hands reaching out for a gentle squeeze when there aren't words, but the music has touched a heart. What a privilege to be present with people as we share music together!”
A fun fact about Lisa is that she loves to travel and recently went to Cabo, with an incredible experience on a whale watching tour!
