Amber Kilawee, Executive Director of Fond du Lac Area United Way and Heather Larson spoke to us about the great services they offer to help transform our community through collaborative partnerships to create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Some of the programs they offer are Drug Free Communities, Ride United, YScreen, and 211. Heather, who oversees YScreen, told us about how they do mental health screening for youth in 8 or 9 schools within our community. This is especially important when the number of deaths from su***de keeps rising. If you would like more information or help in some way, check out their website: https://www.fdlunitedway.org/

Thank you to Sue Schnorr and the Just Fare team for your generosity and for supporting the emotional health of youth in our community. Events like this truly show what’s possible when local organizations come together for a greater purpose.

We are honored to be one of many community partners you supported this year, and we appreciate everyone who shopped local and helped make a difference. 💫
Together, we’re creating a stronger, healthier Fond du Lac.

Do you work for a business, organization, church, or community group that would be interested in hosting a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Su***de Prevention training?

QPR is an evidence-based training that teaches people how to recognize warning signs of su***de, ask the right questions, and connect someone to help.

YScreen partners with local organizations to offer this training right here in our community. If your workplace or group may be interested, please reach out to Heather at hlarson@fdlunitedway.org.

Grateful for the opportunity to share the mission and heart of YScreen at this week’s Kiwanis Club of Fond du Lac meeting alongside Amber Kilawee, Executive Director of United Way 💙

Thank you to the Kiwanis members for taking the time to learn about how YScreen supports youth mental health through early identification, community education, and connection to care. These conversations matter, and it’s encouraging to partner with organizations that understand the importance of proactive, upstream approaches to supporting our youth.

We are deeply grateful to community leaders and partners like Kiwanis, who are committed to building a healthier, more connected community for young people.

Thank you for welcoming us and for all you do in the service of youth and families.
