Meet Scout, our sweet therapy dog at Forest City Hospice House.

Scout loves snuggling with patients and families and has endless patience for little kids. Her favorite trick is letting herself into patient rooms where she knows her attention is wanted. She greets new patients with a wagging tail to help ease their anxiety and senses when someone is having a tough day, offering a comforting snuggle just when it’s needed most.🐾

Meet Chrissy, one of our dedicated Palliative Care Navigators, bringing 23 years of experience to the North Carolina team. Supporting patients and caregivers through life’s most challenging moments is what drives her passion for palliative care.

Chrissy played a key role in developing the navigator position within our palliative care model, helping shape how we support patients and families every day.

Chrissy personally experienced the impact of palliative and hospice care when her sister was dying of lung cancer at just 54 years old. Her sister’s greatest wish was to return home and be surrounded by family, and they were able to honor that wish the support of our team.

“This experience confirmed my passion for supporting patients and families. I’m honored to serve them every day.” -Chrissy, LPN and Palliative Care Navigator

We stand with Hands of Hope in honoring the resilience of premature babies and the strength of their families on World Prematurity Day. 💜

💜 Recognizing World Prematurity Day (November 17th) 💜

Today, on World Prematurity Day, we honor the resilience of premature babies—our tiny but mighty fighters—and the unwavering strength of their families. Prematurity affects 1 in 10 babies worldwide, and every journey is unique, filled with challenges and victories that highlight the incredible power of hope and love.

At Hands of Hope, we’re privileged to walk alongside these families, offering compassionate care and support tailored to the needs of both the babies and their loved ones. From managing complex medical needs to providing emotional and spiritual care, our mission is to nurture these precious lives and help families create moments of joy and connection.

💜 To all the parents of preemies: your courage inspires us every day. To our healthcare partners and community: thank you for joining us in celebrating and supporting these incredible families.

Let’s continue raising awareness and advocating for resources to ensure all premature babies have the chance to thrive.
