What is the TFL, and how does it affect your hips?

The Tensor Fasciae Latae (TFL) is a small muscle on the outside of your hip that plays a big role in how you move. It helps stabilize your pelvis, assist with hip flexion, and works closely with your IT band, as it is a connecting point.

But here’s the problem


When the TFL becomes overactive or tight (which is common with sitting, running, and lifting), it can start to take over for other muscles that should be doing the work: like your glutes. This can lead to hip tightness, poor movement patterns, and even knee or low back discomfort.
