Members of our Community Employment Team represented Opportunities, Inc. at the Transition Fair at Waukesha County Technical College held annually for all Waukesha County School District parents & students to explore options for young people leaving high school. The event provides students the opportunity to gather information for the future from a variety of schools, businesses, and agencies on a wide array of services: post-secondary colleges, employment services, training, recreation-leisure options, day programming, housing options, and mental health resources. Our team highlighted the services and resources we provide including community employment, transition services, apprenticeships, mentorships and more. Shout out to Waukesha County Transition Advisory Council for hosting this awesome event!

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, a time to increase awareness of the needs and achievements of people with developmental disabilities. This month recognizes many different developmental disabilities, including: autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, learning and intellectual disabilities, hearing loss, visual impairment, and more. We are proud to share that Green Valley Enterprises, a division of Opportunities, Inc., recently hosted an official U.S. Congressional On Site Field Hearing at our Beaver Dam location!

The hearing, “Work, Dignity and Choice in Disability Employment,” brought national attention to preserving a full range of employment and independent living options for individuals with diverse abilities. Stakeholders, families, advocates, and community partners came together to support the right of every person to choose the path that fits their goals and needs.

Our President & CEO, Barb LeDuc, shared how meaningful it was to welcome federal leaders and highlight the importance of dignity, opportunity, and choice for the individuals we serve.

Recently, we recognized Culver’s with our Workforce Inclusion Champion Award for their support of Connor during his Temporary Work Experience.
