This month, we are excited to highlight Jason! Jason’s joyful energy, playful spirit, and unbounded creativity are some of the many traits that make Jason a music therapy rockstar.

In music therapy, Jason is working on skills that support his self-regulation, academic skill development, and communication. He inspires us all with his amazing ability to use total communication strategies, whether that be through speech, gestures/signing, or assistive technology. Music is a powerful tool to support communication in many ways - Jason is blowing us away with his progress in speech production through singing!

Jason is a light who inspires us all and brings joy into the clinic each and every week while working hard in therapy. Keep rocking and rolling, Jason!

We are excited to partner with local businesses to host an Old Town Scavenger Hunt! The participating stores have shared their commitment to being welcoming and inclusive spaces for everyone. They are actively working to increase accessibility within their stores, and in the meantime, they want everyone in our community to know that they are welcome there!

INSTRUCTIONS: FIRST! DOWNLOAD THE SCAVENGER HUNT SHEET HERE

On the back of the scavenger hunt sheet, you’ll find riddles that lead you to different stores in Old Town! Once you solve each riddle, visit that store and look for a poster in the window advertising our All Abilities Open Mic Karaoke Night.

When you’ve found at least 5 items, turn in your completed form at the Museum of Art Fort Collins, or text a photo of the front and back to (970) 236-6625 by November 23rd.

DM for questions!

You may have see that we are collaborating with Museum of Art Fort Collins for our next All Abilities Open Mic/Karaoke night. Happening on Friday, November 14th! This event will also include an ART PARTY focusing on themes around friendship and relationship building. It’s a night to celebrate connection, kindness, and community through creativity and collaboration. This video helps to explain the two different art projects that will be happening so you know what to expect!

🎨Community Collage:
Each table will have large shaped piece/s to color and decorate together. Groups will use colors, words, and images inspired by the friendship theme. At the end of the night, all the pieces will connect to form one large, collaborative artwork representing unity and belonging.

🎨Friendship Buddy Exchange:
Participants can design their own Friendship Buddy using either a smooth rock or a cardboard tube as the base. Using a variety of decorating materials, each person will create at least two buddies, one to keep and one to give away before the end of the night. When participants exchange their creations, they’re sharing a handmade symbol of friendship and the joy of giving

October is International AAC Awareness Month. A time to recognize and celebrate all the ways people communicate, while raising understanding, promoting inclusion, and affirming the rights of AAC users. At ITNC, we value and celebrate all forms of communication—spoken words, sign language, AAC devices, choice cards, eye gaze, and more. Everyone deserves the right to express themselves in the way that works best for them.

This month and always, we affirm the rights of AAC users to be heard, respected, and supported. That means listening deeply, learning from lived experiences, and amplifying the voices of the disability community.

In this video titled “See Me”, originally created for our Annual Summer Showcase, you’ll see a variety of communication styles represented, each one a powerful expression of identity and connection. We are proud to stand for inclusion and invite you to join us in honoring every way people communicate.

ITNC was recently invited to formally submit this “See Me” to the Arc of Larimer County’s 13th Annual Film Festival on September 19th. We were honored to be co-awarded the Grand Prize with some other fantastic submissions from area organizations.

If you have never attended the Arc’s Film Festival in the past, we would HIGHLY recommend that you prioritize attending in the future. This event shares video submissions from local participants, as well as from around the world. There are some videos that are funny, some that are serious, but all of them have powerful messages of inclusion and advocacy. We hope that you will check it out.

Thank you to all the communicators who contributed their words and voices to this project.
